Experts Warn Congress: North Korean EMP Would Kill ‘90% of Americans’
– Consider Nuke First Strike

Yikes!!

Quote:Two EMP experts warned Congress on Thursday that North Korea is capable of executing an EMP attack over the United States which would send the U.S. back to the stone age and would lead to the deaths of 90 percent of all Americans within one year.

Chairman Dr. William R. Graham and Chief of Staff Dr. Peter Vincent Pry of the Commission to Assess the Threat to the United States from Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Attack told the Committee on Homeland Security that the U.S. is now facing a “doomsday scenario” as U.S. intelligence under the Obama administration grossly underestimated the capabilities of North Korea.

Former NASA rocket scientist James Oberg visited North Korea’s Sohae space launch base, witnessed elaborate measures undertaken to conceal space launch payloads, and concludes in a 2017 article that the EMP threat from North Korea’s satellites should be taken seriously:

…there have been fears expressed that North Korea might use a satellite to carry a small nuclear warhead into orbit and then detonate it over the United States for an EMP strike. These concerns seem extreme and require an astronomical scale of irrationality on the part of the regime. The most frightening aspect, I’ve come to realize, is that exactly such a scale of insanity is now evident in the rest of their space program.

A country that is just learning how to fire missiles is ahead of the USA in that type of technology? What makes you think that the US can't do it to them? I find it hard to think that the world knows about all our weapons. What makes you think that we don't have secret weapons that no one knows about.

I've heard and read about this. Pretty doomsday scenario, rather frightening really.

I'd hope we have a "contingency plan" for an attempt at something like this, but not at all sure we do.

A decade of rank neglect and appeasement to tyrants is never a good plan. 90% may be a bit high, but even 10% is a catastrophe.

Might be time stupid fat kid meets hot lead before this is even possible...

I hear ya.

But what it comes across to me is basically a cheaper version of actually having a ballistic nuke that they can aim.

Almost like lobbing up a hot air balloon (or ECU football) and seeing where it falls, or blows up.

Hell, even the dictators in Cooba managed to f$%& with our people over there, predictably, and we had NO idea WTF was going on.

90 miles off our coast. So yea. Confidence level, no idea what Vegas was about, meter hovering around 11.7%.

It's possible but not probable. If successful they'd fry all the modern cars and electronics.

One can imagine how well America would function.

Nationwide Katrina.

I'm just hopeful that our spooks (can you say that any longer?) are at least a half step ahead of the stupid fat kid.

We better be capable of knocking this schit out of the sky, cause if not... What then?

We would, as the most spoiled, pampered, whiny place on earth, probably explode within days if some kind of scenario like this took place.

I'd just pack my schit, grab the rods, reels and traps and head to the coast. Piss me off if the beer sales ended... 04-cheers

I'd put a repeat of this to be more likely than North Korea figuring out how to detonate a nuke in orbit over Kansas:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_storm_of_1859

The US actually tested a nuclear bomb in space fairly close to Hawaii in 1962 that caused some damage in Hawaii. Hotels actually held observation parties:

If it happens on the scale of the worst case scenario, forget Katrina. It would put the entire affected area back into the 1200's with a populace unable to live in the 1200's. With no food, water or supplies on hand, most of society would be in full on Walking Dead mode within 48-72 hours.
