RE: Game Day Army
They punted one time. We turned them over on downs twice...once was when they were chucking it up in the air at the end of the half, and the other when their gunner dropped a perfect pass from the punter. We got our asses kicked on that side of the ball. That probably wouldn't have changed in OT. I liked giving our offense a chance to win the game from two yards. I even liked the play call. Eriksen had been stout all game...the DB just made a great play. Oh well.

RE: Game Day Army
Honestly I wouldn't have had a problem either way. Let's also not forget that in previous games we have had extra points missed or blocked. Just imagine if we would have missed the extra point to lose that game instead. I liked going for the win despite the fact that it didn't pay off here shows that the coaching staff has confidence in their players to go for it and play to win. I think it'll pay off in the future.
I guess some of the "experts" were right about how EMU's luck of winning the close games last year wasn't going to continue this year. I hope it evens out for us the rest of the way.

Four losses by a combined 17 points. So painful.
I like our chances against Ball St and BGSU. CMU upset Ohio last week but still doesn't impress me (we should've beaten Ohio too). Miami seems to have taken a step back this year, and just lost to BG last weekend. Ragland is also hurt for the Redhawks.
Best chance for 6 wins is knocking off Western at home and then winning three of four against Ball St, CMU, BGSU, and Miami.

You guys can disagree all you want. Our O had momentum, if we get ball first we likely score and put pressure back on them. To stall their offense, all it takes is 1 penalty, or backfield tackle. They get ball first, same thing, only 1 mistake to stall them. Even if they do score, we get our shot and go for 2 at that time to win.

Looking JUST at the non-conferece, most of us expected to go 2-2. That's what we did.
However, the pain of these close loses, plus dropping winnable games against Ohio and Toledo make it feel like such a disappointment (it IS a disappointment, to be clear). But today, this was a good Army team. I'm disappointed, but losing to *this* Army team isn't a totally awful loss in and of itself.

The momentum was why trying to gain two yards wasn't a "horrible, horrible call", as you put it.
They had, like, two penalties all game. Even when we stopped them in the backfield, they'd gain chunk yards on the next play. I don't think we ever stopped them on 3rd and short either. When there's no clock working against them, they can run their same methodical option garbage down our throats over and over.
I really hate playing option offenses. Hopefully next year is the last year we play Army for a while.

Nope. We play at West Point again in 2020, I believe. Ugh.

That's fair. That Ohio one is the only one I'll look back on and say "how the hell did we lose that game?". That's the difference between 3-3 and 2-4. Now, we have to beat four of BG, WMU, CMU, BSU, NIU, and MIA. I could see us winning any of those games, and losing all of them (except for maybe BSU...they look awful). It's going to be tight, but I wouldn't be shocked if we aren't bowling.

In reality, there is no right or wrong call in that situation. If your team wins it was a great call, and if they lose it's a bad call.

Waldo Stadium flooded. Game delayed until 1:00 pm tomorrow.
That cuts a day off WMU's preparation for us.

At halftime in heavy rain, Toledo leads CMU 17-0. Shane Morris is 5/16 for 34 yards and an INT. CMU has 15 yards rushing. I guess you could say Central is not adjusting well to the conditions...

Well had light rain last night. No complaints.
Apparently MI is getting it.

Wow. Kent State shocks Miami and wins 17-14 at home. Miami played with Billy Bahl at QB while Ragland is out.

NIU outlasts Buffalo 14-13 at UB. Closer than I thought it would be.
Toledo knocks off CMU 30-10, and it looks like Ohio will take care of business at Bowling Green.

Good game!
My two cents: going for 2 was the right call. Good play call too.
Your team reminds me of Army on 2015 - learning to win, but losing close while doing so.
Good luck the rest of the way.

Haha, such a great play call, it took 3 timeouts to come up with it.........and it failed! The kid that made the tackle was unblocked.
Good play call......for Army.
Good luck the rest of the way as well.
