The reason Memphis Madness got out of hand was because it turned into a free rap concert. It turned away from a Memphis basketball event into a concert.

What day of the week has our Midnight Madness(es) been in the past?
Friday night, breh.
"Midnight Madness is an annual event celebrating the upcoming college basketball season in which a team opens its first official practice to the public, often combining it with a pep rally and other fan friendly activities. The tradition originated from teams holding public practices at midnight on the earliest day that the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) would allow a practice to be held. In 2013, a new NCAA rule established some flexbility around the opening of a team's practice sessions. As a result, the dates on which teams celebrate Midnight Madness can vary, but most stick with the traditional date of a Friday night closest to 15 October."
This is fun to re-live. Does it give caution to those who claim to "only try to keep it real" - based upon how wrong they were about this? Any lessons from those wrong forecasts about Madness, to the doom and gloom forecasts of this season?

Ouch.
They won’t admit being wrong but they bump threads and quote themselves when they are right. It is comical actually

It was a lot of fun. It really emphasizes what a freakin waste of time it is to try and negatively prognosticate everything instead of celebrating or mourning a past event. As Tiger fans, we should support what we can't change. Nothing can change the coach or the players or the schedule this season, so why not support it?

Excellent points, CMT. And you and I don't always agree.
May I add that Tubby will not get our program in trouble, which is going to be a big deal for the next couple of years, because college hoops is full of absolute scumbags.
And we will owe him around $9.6M after the end of this season. Tubby is not going anywhere anytime soon. Might as well make the best of it.

Interested parties can feel free to print this up and post it somewhere that it can be seen.

Good point. As much as I dread watching Tubby Ball, I am trying to get on board with this. Hate that something that I am so passionate about is requiring so much effort to get into.

That is absolutely the only reason I did this. I'm not a thread bumper. But the ridiculousness from the anti's brings this on.

Bump.
I am very pleased it was a success concerning attendance.
I also hope I am wrong about my other expressed concerns.
If I am right about any of them, I promise I will not go on a messageboard and highlight the posters who have scores of time excoriated me - often rudely and personally. I do not seek vindication. Indeed, I will be as dejected as any other Tiger fan.
You conveniently forgot to mention that I bought tickets and gave them away because I wanted to do my part to help boost attendance. I wanted a successful turnout.

I hear what you're saying. But when the games really start, it won't be as hard...? (rant coming, skip to *)
As for fans being told what we should or shouldn't do... who cares what people tell us we should do.
If we are going down that road, maybe I should have pointed out some of the obvious inconsistencies in Pastner's coaching techniques instead of taking the he is Memphis so I support him side .
Sheesh, I popped folks here for their constant critique of JP, as if he and our program were inseparable. They weren't and neither is the head coach now--- inseparable from Tiger BB, that is.
I do remember, however, attending games the last year of Pastner's reign and cheering for Tigers...while a couple of my friends wanted JP out of the way so badly that they couldn't get behind a Tiger win with the same enthusiasm.
Bottom line. *Tubby may be hard to get behind for some of us, but I'm counting on the players and their dreams of success to pull us in. lol
