High Scoring Tiger Basketball
Per Bleacher Report, Tubby says, "We're going to be one of the best scoring teams in the league. We have that kind of firepower."
I hope he's right.

I'll be happy if the effort and chemistry show solid improvement over last season. I can handle a rebuilding cycle as long as demonstrable gains are part of the process.
In the meantime, I going to continue enjoying some fun Tiger football!

RE: High Scoring Tiger Basketball
Two threads on the board about this, and the positively aligned one has 2 (now 3) replies, but the negatively tinged one is up to 40+.
What does that say about the sad sacks with an agenda?
BTW, I'm glad to hear about it. Maybe we get a little surprise when they really start playing games vs the gloom-and-doom we've been subjected to around here the past 6 months.

But you posted in a thread started by you (about buying season tickets) that we would “likely have a rough year”. An NCAA bid and having a rough year are polar opposites.

I think we will have a losing record and most of the media to date predicts a 9th place AAC finish or lower. I hope I am wrong and the media is wrong and Tubby is right. In other words, I look forward to Tubby being right.

Ok then. Fair enough. But I got to tell you, we aren’t going to have a losing record.

I also look forward to the opinions of fans after we actually see the team play for ourselves as the season begins and progresses.
Crazy thing to me is that many here seem to base their own opinions on the opinions of other people. And those people haven't seen them play either. None of us have.

No way for a losing record.
There are, literally, 16 games on the schedule that are gimmes.

It is hard for me to even imagine it, but last year's AAC ninth place team (ECU) finished 15-18 overalll and 6-12 in conference. It is feasible,IMO. We have little proven outside shooting, little D-1 experience, little experience playing with each other, no consensus 4 star talent or above, and coached by someone with a losing record half of the last four seasons.

no outside shooting that we know of....check
no experience as a team....check
3 years of combined D1 experience...check
no star power....check
I think he will coach them up a certain amount. That's where the uncertainty lies. How far can the coaching up go?
I don't think we have 16 gimmes. Have to see a list of those. lol

You seem very confident that we will have a losing record. I wouldn’t put any money up if I were you.

In theory. I made a post a few weeks ago showing that Martin, Rivers and our recruits have similar rankings to Tulane's lineup and their team has much more experience. Will we be as bad as Tulane? I doubt it, but based on what we have I would never think that 16 of our games are gimmies, especially since we lost a couple last year.
Any team with most of their roster returning will probably give us a lot of trouble.

And don't forget they have no one of experience to practice against.
So when they hit the floor it's gonna be frustrating at first--gonna be defenders like most have never seen. How fast they adapt and handle the frustration is another question.
