Did GSU consider playing Maine after Memphis bailed out?

Considered and rejected. The real plan was to play Georgia Tech on Dec 2nd. But Coastal Carolina would not move a game so not going to happen.

It doesn't take much to understand that, heck, GSU could go 12-2 this year and still get minimal attention in Atlanta short of winning the Access Bowl.

It doesn't take much to understand that, heck, GSU could go 12-2 this year and still get minimal attention in Atlanta short of winning the Access Bowl.

I for some odd reason you want to believe that. I know that you also want to act like you're some sort of expert on GSU or Atlanta despite not having any connection to either. Not sure why GSU is such a preoccupation for you but it is funny. We are like every other city school, UH included. People pay attention when you win and they do not when you lose. It is oddly that simple.

And you apparently didn't get the irony of your describing UH to a T.

I'm not sure how Ga State ever overcomes having a power conference team in the same city.

We aren't any city. 6M. And that power conference team hardly enjoys popular support outside of alumni. First game in the new stadium was a sellout and we haven't played game two yet. Let's see how this plays out. Again, a lot of irony in this coming from a city school in n Gator land.

I hope you mean Gator land amusement park. Gainesville is probably a 2.5 hour drive from ucf. We are a school that draws around 40k in most games with a budget over 60 million. The Ga State question is legit that it is near impossible to do a startup when a power team already exists in the same city. You're fighting for attention when Ga Tech is going to get 99% in your city.
