The worst athletic program in the conference leads the league in attendance in the highest profile sport. Market inefficiencies like these do not happen by accident. I smell socialism.
EC USSR FTW!

Don't worry, ECU benefited from its home game vs. VA Tech, which travels very well. ECU average attendance will continue to fall. What is surprising is how modest the Memphis attendance is, despite having the home game vs. UCLA.

Memphis' game during the hurricane/tropical storm really hurt their average.

If I was the ECU AD, I would not take such strong fan support lightly. Getting 40,000 people to come out and watch anything is a miracle at most entertainment venues. We didn't even get 40,000 for the Rolling Stones. The Rolling Stones... Again, the AD needs to FULLY understand the gift he has and work day and night to correct the problems before it's too late.
Most college programs would be rebuilding in front of a mostly empty stadium.

It was 50,000 a few years ago. Our AD doesn't know much at all sadly.

We've averaged around 43,500 in home games not played in a tropical depression and one of those was against a 1-AA team. Next home game most likely pits a 4-1 Memphis team vs undefeated Navy and that should approach 50K especially w/ the early forecast of partly cloudy and high of 77 that day.

ECU has the best fan support in the league but agree their AD better not take that for granted because once lost it’s hard yo get fans back

Definitely. Compare 2007 UCF's brand new stadium and frequent 40,000+ crowds with 2008 UCF's nation's most pathetic offense statistically. Game by game crowds were systematically bored to tears and it took years to rejuvenate attendance.

We had 10K in a monsoon in a stalled TS for the home opener. That means we had about 88K for the other 2 games. I think it was 46K+ for UCLA, and just under 42K for UL-Monroe.

So the conference as a whole is averaging approximately 26k with those attendance numbers?

Multiple schools were negatively impacted by weather/rescheduling.

The attendance for ECU Saturday is gonna be the lowest since probably before the upper deck was added, which was in the 90's.

I realize that with the hurricane and all the rainy weather - just shocked at how low it was.
