RE: Why we should listen to comedians
Next week, Fit will be starting a thread telling us we should heed the political opinions of actual clowns.

i'm actually surprised there are funny comedians. i swear i've seen a few. how the hell is kevin hart funny? from the one clip i've seen, you can tell he's got no talent. is he like the tyler perry of comedians? i've never seen a tyler perry film and never will unless nomad points me in the right direction

i feel most comedians would be apolitical. if you occasionally want to get political, why limit yourself to whom you can mock? comedy is open season on everything

So the current crop of comedians are stupid in addition to having no talent. They do limit their targets. Someone like Johnny Carson didn't. He also didn't focus so much on politics.

IMO, I'd like to see more "banana in the tailpipe" type comedians than comedians constantly trying to tell me how to think about politics. I can think for myself. All I ask from a comedian is to be funny.

RE: Why we should listen to comedians
I live in the EST Zone. So first off, seeing these shows live will be close to impossible during the week unless you either work afternoons, are unemployed or your 'weekend' occurs during the work week. Second, if you regularly work out because you are into fitness or you are trying to get into shape...you need to get decent rest so staying up until 11:30 pm to watch late nite comedy is likely out for you. Third, I get it that you can DVR these shows and watch them the next day; however, if you have kids then you will realize that your time is precious and that you will probably not dedicate your time to watching late nite comedy when there are a myriad of other choices that will inform/entertain you better - like actual stand-up comedy acts, comedy sitcoms, actual news networks, newspapers, info sites on the web, youtube, etc.

When I sift thru all that, you get a pretty decent idea on who are the primary consumers of late nite comedy shows like Trevor Noah, Jimmy Kimmel, etc. Most likely, you are a 1) college student, 2) are underemployed or 3) are unemployed. This is the perfect demographic to pitch the SJW left leaning identity politics and the politics of Bernie Sanders to. These guys know their audience and will tailor their views accordingly.

Aside from most of them not having any real talent, they also give a political message that I disagree with. I don't disagree simply because I blindly chose a side. I did plenty of my own vetting and concluded that today's democrats do nothing to represent me and that the GOP isn't a whole lot better either. So...I have to pick and chose on a case by case basis when researching various candidates and views. Late nite comedy shows are horrible at providing the proper vetting to do that.

RE: Why we should listen to comedians
Its really pathetic. We have a guy as president who ought to provide more material than any president in history. And the "comedians" fall flat on their face. No talent whatsoever. Hatred just isn't funny.

Democrats are kind of the same way. Trump provides plenty of material, but the Democrats always seem to swing and miss. No talent in the Democratic pipeline either.

But comedians are experts of taking our everyday lives and pointing out the ridiculous. Most of the time they make a joke of it and we realize how silly we can be. But sometimes they point out the silliness and it isn't so funny.

It isn't funny that under this administration, it is now easier for the mentally ill to get weapons.

It isn't funny that under this administration, people who are on no fly lists can still purchase guns.

It's absolutely ridiculous. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

Maybe it's time we listen to our comedians.
Yes, when I need advice on how or what to think or how to live my life by God, the first person I hunt up is a comedian. Take this thread for instance chock full of comedy.

These clowns now could not even come close to Johnny Carson, he took shots at everyone and was actually funny, even when his jokes bombed.

I don't listen because they're idiots.

I like Sajak's tweet:

OK, let me explain this again: We're celebs. We're wiser & more empathetic than you. We are famous. Please take our opinions more seriously.

Its funny all these actors, some who didn't even get out of high school and many who didn't go to college, being experts on everything.

RE: Why we should listen to comedians
Sajak's tweet was total sarcasm:

Now you want to talk non-sarcasm... This is apparently from Mr. Kimmel, who thinks guns are badmmkay?

Quote:Sources close “Jimmy Kimmel Live” tell the website The Blast that the comedian has had some issues with protestors who don’t appreciate his criticism of Trump and his support of Obamacare. In response to protesters, the show has increased personnel at both the front and back entrances. This personnel consists of highly-trained, off-duty police officers

And apparently they're ARMED security guards.... Ironic, since we're supposed to "LIsten" to a comedian who just ranted about the 2nd amendment being not necessary...
