Then maybe play UTSA or UH that weekend as an OOC game

That would be cool. The first time we played UTSA we did it thanksgiving weekend but that was because we shared a conference then. Pretty sure there were close to 40k for that game.

Heck if we were desperate enough we could schedule SHSU that weekend and we could probably get close to a sell out against them, but they'd have to get worse and we'd have to improve before we schedule them.

I have zero interest in seeing SHSU. But throw I'd add UNT to the list. When it comes down to it though, UTSA is the natural fit for both schools.

Agreed. I'm just saying though. I'm sure SHSU fans would be pumped to play us again. I'd love for us to have a deal with UNT like we do with UTSA.

That would be sweet . . . .

. . . though I have to confess, I just don't get why UNT looks at our program with such distain . . . like somehow it's beneath them to play us . . .

You'd think they'd want to tee it up for the easy win . . . if for no other reason.

I think they were on their own in the SBC forever and now have someone they can lord over with the same position the same way the other G5 Texas schools looked down on them.

Just another reason UTA needs to restart football.

The App-GS game would produce capacity crowds nearly every year if they were played on Saturdays again.

We could both be 0-11 and still pack a stadium for that game.

Yes, but then you have the issue of what the league sees as a rivalry.

If you ask any GS/App fan, they are going to claim the primary rival is each other, but GSU is going to claim GS as its rival

Likewise, ULM is going to claim ULL as a rival, but will the Cajuns, or will they claim AState. It's almost impossible to set up a rivalry weekend, because three or four teams always get screwed.

The problem we have is history. Except for GaSo-App not enough schools have the history to really have a blood thirsty rivalry.

As we gain stability as a conference, we need to start our on traditions, including which weekends we have as rivalry game weekend. [/quote]

My mistake. Trying to get out of the house this morning and on the road. It is actually 24,121 for the game in Boone & 24,004 for the two games in Statesboro. Point being whether the game is on Saturday or Thurs night it's still a good crowd.
