Game Week: Toledo
Kentucky is already in the rear view mirror and another toughie, Toledo, is on deck as we continue through the meat grinder part of this year's schedule (yesterday, WMU creamed BSU and NIU played very tough vs. SDSU, a top 25 team).
Very possible that Toledo will be the 3rd of 6 straight teams who will become bowl eligible.

Anyone but those guys! Usually you go from a SEC opponent to a lesser talented conference foe. Not so here, Toledo is a much better team than Kentucky.

We, obviously, have some say in our OOC schedule, but the conference schedule is out of our hands.
It would have been nice to get some easier opponents now and play the tough games on TV during the last month of the season.

Still have a good shot at being Bowl eligible for the second year in a row.

Dear Bob,
I'm not sure that Toledo is better then Kentucky. So far, Toledo has shown a very porous defense, and it could come down to the team with the ball last, winning the game. I just hope our defense can continue to play at the level they have. That could be the difference in this game.

Ken, don't kid yourself. Toledo would be a middle Big 10 or SEC team. That offense is pretty unstoppable. Our defense is going to have to induce some turnovers to stay in it.

Toledo's defense really is giving up a lot of points. Averaging 35 points against per game, with only FCS Elon scoring less than 24 on them.

This is a game we can win. If our O can't find it's way against this D, well........
Strength vs strength here. I doubt they'll be able to run the ball on us, so it'll simply come down to putting pressure on Woodside. Our pass rush is better than last year (yes Bob, even without the irreplaceable POC) so this game will be in Neathery's hands to win or lose.
At this point, I'd much rather rely on Neathery winning or losing us a game, than Creighton or Keen.
We're overdue for this team to put it's first complete game of the season together. Let's go boys!

Anyone know the status of Banham, Vann, and Hoying? This is where a beat reporter would come in handy.

Banham may have been a concussion? Somebody said Vann had another shoulder problem? Hoying had a knee sprain but should be back this week.
We are just fine at RB with Eriksen and Turner. Vann just might be one of those guys that is injury prone, luckily we've got the other 2 who are just as productive.
Obviously missed Banham's sure hands on the punt return team, but it got us back to playing our best RB's. Banham is a special teams specialist, hopefully back this week. If not, have to stick with the sure handed Holder back there. Daugherty just seems to have lost his way and his confidence.

More bad news for our offense. Ohio 58 - UMass 50.
Ohio gave up 50 to UMass.........and we had trouble scoring 7!

Toledo's D will be getting its first break since Nevada but that was on the road and we had a ton of unforced errors.... Actually we cant stop doing that. Coming off a bye week Toledo's offense should get to 40 and hold a pedestrian EMU offense under 30.
42- 24 Rockets...
Miami gave up 6 points to then 4-0 Duke. We were down 38-30 to Miami with 7 mins left in the game. They did have an RB go for 18.5 a carry though... We are better than Kentucky.

Meh. Elon passed the 50 yard line because of a muffed punt by us and two shanks by us... Other than that they didnt do squat. That game was a throw in the backups and stay healthy effort.
The other games we have had 10 plus penalties and lots of killing ourselves.
You will see either more of that or a clean game when Toledo breaks out.

Keep the excuses flowing. We can say the exact same thing about our team. This game is strength vs strength, and weakness vs weakness. You'll certainly be favored, but this is a winnable game for EMU.

Dear UofToledoFans,
You are not better than Kentucky. Saying you hang around with a team for whatever period of time, and end up losing by twenty or more points is meaningless.
If, you want to call that a moral victory, okay, but do not delude yourself.

I'm actually liking our chances more and more in this game Ken. Toledo likely thinking this is a pretty easy win, just like their fans.
Stunner this week in the MAC as we pull off the upset.

RE: Game Week: Toledo
Easy win? When does Toledo overlook a team? Maybe like Akron to end the year in 2013??? We had a bye week only focusing on EMU who gave us a game in 2016.... The thoughts of Toledo as a team is probably, "despite the stats Roback is a leader and game manager who can lead an offense... EMU will have a defense that rivals Miami etc..."
No one is holding Toledo under 30 in the MAC but maybe NIU. I see us giving up some 40 spots but not to EMU.
Rutgers is improved but a 3-9 team probably. Kentucky is decent but a good offense can put points on them.
Charlotte is no better than Nevada.
Miami would have beaten EMU about 35 or 45 to 0. Kentucky and Duke are very comparable and Miami shmoked the Blue Devils. Transitive transitive lala land. Doesnt matter much. Saturday will tell the story. EMU hasnt bested us since 2006? 2007? Idk. Id bet my cookie jar they dont do it in 2017. The team doesnt mirror me I am sure. We have like 3 SJJ high school kids on the team and know Roback very well. His senior all state receiver has only a few targets in 5 years at UT because the depth at WR on this UT team.
