Crazy thought on Rod
If we end up winning the MAC (I’m not in the locker room, so I don’t have to take it one game at a time ?). Does Rod get hired for a bigger job?

He’ll have won multiple championships and can put, bounce back year on his resume.

Not even something I would have fathomed this offseaso, but doesn’t seem all that crazy.

You mean like, maybe he is actually a good coach?

If that did happen, I wouldn't be opposed to keeping Kane on as HC.

Or the LSU experiment goes south and Canada is on the block.

No we are dreaming!

I would prefer Kane to "Canadian" football but we are getting way ahead of ourselves. Let's enjoy the ride and see where we end up, it could be a special year if the Offense continues to improve.

RE: Crazy thought on Rod
couple times this came up in other threads...Rod may have too much baggage from past 'learning experiences' to be considered someone who could handle a much bigger professional challenge. I could see Rod getting hired for a marginally better gig, something paying abit over his $700k annually, but not a Power 5 HC job. Maybe a position coach again at a P5 school, but I can't see him taking the over a big program.

Don't put the horse in front of the cart here...alot of games left to be played this year and we gotta expect some wild challenges.

Rod has more wins against P5 schools than any coach in Huskie history. Maybe even in MAC history. 05-stirthepot Think of what he could do at a P5 school with P5 money, reputation and support.

Rod was really giving it to Santa after the goal-line interception. I mean really giving it to him.
Not a good thing in my opinion. Santa knows he screwed up, and didn't need to be screamed at on national television.

I'm sure Carey thinks that this is why Santa was #2 at QB. IMO if he had been ahead of Graham on the depth chart to begin with he would have already been past making mistakes like he made and would have progressed beyond it by the time this game came around.

If he would have run the ball like I'm Surel his players wanted to do, the lesson could have been learned against teams we could have overcame these mistakes against...

Perfect example of Carey's limitations. I saw it too and it made me cringe. I know football is a tough asre game, but i can't see that helping the player or team.

Remember a long time ago when Ditka coached the Bears and he would yell at and embarrass Mike Tomczak (old QB)? anyone? Stories and books afterward talked about what a dysfunctional situation that was. Nothing was helped by that.

Santa is a good QB and will get better. He has a good arm, along with poise and composure. I just wish Carey would let him run some more, he'd be like Harnish was .

He certainly has some big games under his belt already. Our offense looked really good last night.

Yea I agree 100%. I've always thought he had a lot of upside and seems like a gamer, which probably wasn't apparent from practices where the QB knows he isn't going to get hit, and where running ability doesn't come into play.

I ran across a thread about Rod Carey for the KU HC job on a Kansas board

https://scout.com/college/kansas/Board/1...M109157736

Of course, since it is on a fan board it means nothing.

I thought everyone was pissed we didn't do a search after DD left.
You want to pick a coach right away or have a search?

I normally would push for a search, but I’ve been really impressed with Kane and what he’s done with this defense. He’s younger, a former player, and seems to really get along well with his players. He’s always been a great recruiter and knows our program from having been around it.

My ideal candidate would be a very motivated younger coach who has had success at the coordinator level who can recruit. Luckily we have one in our own backyard right now. I think Kane would be a good choice

For a school that has horrible marketing issues, I do think PJ would have solved that problem here. Would have been interesting to see how that might have turned out.
