Something tells me this is just the tip of the iceberg. People will roll on others to help reduce prison sentences.

If people think this only happens in basketball, they are kidding themselves.

Good news... Absolutely no sign of this going on at Southern Miss - in basketball anyway. 07-coffee3

Even if we were named...what would we have to worry about? Shutting down our program? We'd miss nothing. 02-13-banana

I wonder if this will have any effect on the negotiations we were having about a new apparel company.

Best news we could hope for. Basketball sux and is clean as a whistle regarding this. Hey.....DT saved our butts it looks like.

Same thing in football. We are the only bafoons with Russell. So prob the only clean football program.

This may save our program somehow and actually propel us TTT for real.

Absolutely because these aren't your basic NCAA slap-on-the-wrist violations...these are big time federal crimes being committed. Not to mention, all these coaches/agents/boosters etc. are all tightly connected...they will absolutely start ratting each other out in order to avoid serving 20 years in prison.

If it spreads far enough (and it will have to be a bunch) this might be our door back to post season play - even with a losing record. 03-shhhh

The IRS is gonna be real interested in this.....
I'm thinking if this turns out to be as big as it might the NCAA organization is finished over seeing the P5 programs. How are they going to reel this in after the fact?

I get the feeling that this is going to open the door up to a lot of investigations on the other sports for anyone who worked with Adidas.

If they are able to "reel this in" and continue to oversee the P5 programs, it may rush the change to paying the players. The excuse will be - if we could just pay the players this illegal crap would not be happening. I don't really believe that, but that's what ESPN will tell us.

On a side note - an SEC fan made the comment to me the other day that money was ruining college football. 04-jawdrop Never thought I'd hear an SEC fan say that. It's not just some of us that miss the old days. After this article, he may find out how prophetic that was.

Oh ****.... this is going be good.

Quote:“Our investigation is ongoing,” FBI assistant director Bill Sweeney warned. “And we are currently conducting interviews.”

Quote:“If you yourself engaged in these activities, I’d encourage you to call us,” said Kim, the Acting U.S. Attorney. “I think it’s better than us calling you.”

Tip of Iceberg

Recruiting might get easier for us.

stink, this wasn't capitalism...

What Oregon and Nike have going.. that's capitalism at work in college athletics. Nike gives the money to the university, who makes it work for their athletic programs.

What Adidas has done is more along the lines of a Corporatocracy, and has no place in college athletics.

Up2stuff nailed it.. this is how the bigger colleges and their mouthpieces are going to push pay-to-play, as well as the break-away that comes from the bigger schools... (but in the process, they better lose all their tax exemptions and such).

Looks like Pitino & Jurich are being relieved of their duties at Louisville.

The downfall of the mighty. Paterno in football at Penn State. Now Pitino at Loserville.

Here's the thing. Penn State got its sanctions rolled back, and Louisville will still be P5 (or its equivalent) 20 years from now. All this shady stuff goes on because the NCAA has no stones and so it all ends up worth it in the long run.

Whatever becomes of the NCAA, it brought it upon itself via decades of lax and inconsistent enforcement.
