RE: Stony Brook
This is going to be very hard to dominate the CAA for any team this year. One game will not dictate the season. Yesterday Elon shocked us, next week it could be someone else. Everyone claimed Oklahoma St and Mason Rudolph were unbeatable.

Stony Brook is going to be a tough game.

Expect a physical game. I am sure SB feels "snakebit" as our last two games have been nailbiters, and could have gone their way.

Looking for DL and LB to shut off the running game.

I watched the UR-Elon game last night and the UR run defense got shredded.

We beat Stony Brook. I think we'll need to force some turnovers to do it but we get the win.

Do we have any updates for injured players for this week? Any players coming back?

There's always the chance the game notes that come out in a few hours give a glimpse into the crystal ball!

I'm just excited to have our bye week out of the way...it is sad watching everyone else have more to digest for a whole week. The CAA will be a lot of fun this year, and our defense is strong. If our offense can keep improving I think we can make some noise. I like having Stony Brook and Elon out of the gate; it gives us a chance to really know where we are. Both are winnable games, and wins will do a lot for confidence as we head towards the heart of the schedule with JMU and @Maine.

I expect us to be underdogs in all 8 CAA games. Perhaps we will be a favorite against Towson on Senior Day, but otherwise, I expect us to be the underdog going in every week for the rest of the season. The underdog role has led to creativity in the past and some surprising results. The main point is that we have no remaining easy games on the schedule. Looking forward to a solid effort Saturday and hopefully a win.

Two deep is out. No Wimmer, no Durant. I also found it interesting that Graydon Campbell is slated to start at RG over McConnell. Campbell has spent the last few games on the DL. Laster is also absent.

McKee is listed as starting punter. Weird.

RE: Stony Brook
Doesn't seem like the 2 deep really changes much from week-to-week except for injuries. Even then, it's not always updated. I assume Michael will be the starting punter, but McKee is still listed. I would think Evans would be 1 or 2 at RB, but also not listed. Parker is listed as starter. Hopefully that means the suspension doesn't carry over or there was an appeal. But I think it just means that the weekly 2-deep is full of inaccuracies.

We're one of the few offenses that still uses a true FB, and Crist seems to be very productive. 2 TDs this year, and one of those required some great hands to scoop before it hit the turf. Makes for another option out of the backfield that the defense needs to account for.

RE: Stony Brook
Considering it is published the Monday prior to the Saturday game, there is a chance there are changes by game time. Some could also be an oversight, Christian is listed as the PR or KR and I am sure he’ll be the guy.

I hope I’m wrong, but this is going to be a ground it and pound it 17-14, 13-10 game. I thought differently two weeks ago. Our D must maintain its efficiency, and hold them close to the 2.2 yards per carry average so far. That’s s lot to ask of our defense, our offense needs to help.

Hoping we can muster 250 in the air and 200 on the ground, if reversed I think we’d be okay too. 400+ total offense I think we’re the victor. Less than that it’s a toss up.

Maine, Towson, Richmond. By the time we play those teams we could/should be favored in those games. We will have already beaten Madison by then!

What did I miss? SBU is a juggernaut all of the sudden? They've beaten Sacred Heart, Rhode Island, and just beat Towson by a TD. We're better than all 3 of those teams and we're great at home.

RE: Stony Brook
I want our league opponents to think we are a cakewalk opponent right up until the clock hits zero and they have lost to the Tribe. I want Stony Brook looking ahead to their matchup with Delaware. Most especially, I want JMU fixated on ESPN gameday on 10/14 against Villanova and the 10/28 matchup with New Hampshire the week after us. Totally overlook us and don't take us seriously. I want the Tribe players to only focus on Stony Brook this week and stopping the run on defense. On offense, I'll take improvement and enough points to win. I also want 3000 Tribe students at the game totally supporting the team, but we cannot have everything.

When we have a good team, we are great at home. It would be nice to get Zable rocking Saturday night. Looking forward to a fun night.

RE: Stony Brook
We all love history at W&M. So, here is a somewhat recent history lesson:

Since 2002(15 seasons), how many times have we started league play 2-0? The way the league sets up, we nearly always have 1 home game and then 1 road game in our first two league games.

The answer, only once. 2004. That team, led by Lang Campbell, beat New Hampshire and Northeastern who were both ranked at the time the Tribe beat them. We went 0-2 4 times and the other 10 times went 1-1. Even in 2009(national semifinalist) and in 2010(when we won the conference), we did not go 2-0. So, winning this week at home and next week at Elon would be significant.

No juggernaut, but let’s reflect a little in recent years.

2014 it took a last minute TD pass to Ballard to send to overtime. We win in overtime at there place.
2015 in a rain storm we shut out a Stony Brook team that was filled with freshmen and sophomores who are now juniors and seniors.
2016 at there place we won ugly.

So it’s not like there’s this huge separation between us and SB. I’m confident that our guys will come out on top, but SB has a pretty good defense and if we struggle on offense it will make it closer than we want.
