Pappy's Predictions - #4
#4 - Arkansas State

POSITIVES: Three starters returning, including double-figure scorers Deven Simms and Rashad Lindsey. This team shot well and defended well last season, with a 38% to 32% differential in 3-point percentage. They do a good job of rebounding by committee. Veteran team loaded with upperclassmen. Appear to have incoming class that will provide some immediate help.

NEGATIVES: No really dominant rebounder, and a little undersized. They will miss Donte Thomas at point; he was a good one. Also gone is Devin Carter, who was their gunner. Losing your main shooter and your point guard at the same time can be tricky.

I think you are a little high for ASU and a little low for us. Might be my "homerism" talking. Will be an interesting season.

Let's hope your homerism is right on.

We're going to an entirely different style of play this year. Supposedly going to press full court for 40 minutes and play a very fast style of play. Not sure how that will translate to the SBC other than create High Scoring games against Troy.

Real key is finding a scorer that can replace Carter's consistency. Team is determined to win the league this year after blowing it late last year.

Also, worth noting that Devin Simms is not returning. Left the team a few weeks ago. Never meshed well with Balado. Probably worth revising where you put us.

Simms is listed on the roster on ASU official athletic site. Is he back, or is the website incorrect?
