RE: CA 8/25/17 Article on Butch Pierre
Josh Pastner proved his record was a bunch of cream puff CUSA wins and OOC slaw. Every time he played anyone in the top half of a P5 OOC and in the tourney he would get smoked. He proved his record was all CUSA when we joined the AAC, he still had a team that would have slaughtered CUSA and still couldn't do dick with it in what was only a little better competition. Only conclusion I can come up with is Pastner might not have made a couple of the tourney he made if he had to go through a P5 schedule, he proved it every time he had to play. So Stammers is full of beans and would argue with a dustpan.

At least we got there. Can we get there in the next 2 years like people are forecasting....It's great to think and to dream. The doing is where most people get stuck.

We almost have to win the conference tourney to get there. The committee and the TEEVEE folks don't like our BB conference very much. We don't have the stars that the rest of the country can watch.

So did the winners of the Ohio Valley, Atlantic Sun, Big South, CAA, MAAC, Southern, Horizon League, NE, Summit, Patriot, American East, Big Sky, Big West, MEAC, Southland, & Sun Belt. And how'd that turn out for them? Quite the distinction. Seems you are advocating a switch to a no-name conference just to get a bid...SMH, ...01-wingedeagle

Stammer ignores the fact that JP rode the Calipari wave & it's favorable impact on the Memphis MBB program & the weak schedule. Maybe he should gain an appreciation of JP's record in his last two seasons, the attendance drop during his tenure, his giving in to extortion to sign players - the reasons he is no longer the coach. Then he compares Memphis in CUSA to TT in the B12, SMH. Hate of Tubby seems to have no bounds & clearly eliminates an ability to analyze data in context in an even-handed manner. Just continual spewing of hot-air, twisted stats, grasping for anything to spew more hate on Tubby & the Memphis program.

Ok, so now that every single fact from every single angle known to man hasn't even made a dent; let's keep it as simple as possible.

Pastner has 2 NCAA wins versus Tubby with 1 in the last 8 years. Pastner badly outcoached Tubby last year. Tubby has gutted the program.

Quote:Stammer ignores the fact that JP rode the Calipari wave

5 years after Cal, Pastner is still drawing over 16,000 per game.

Quote:Maybe he should gain an appreciation of JP's record in his last two seasons

So, Pastner rode Cal's coattails apparently for 5 years, and then after 12 very good seasons (Cal's last 7 plus Pastner's first 5), Pastner managed to wreck the program after ONE season out of 7 outside of the top 89 of the RPI.

Atlanta is sad and frustrated and confused. Nobody was more hateful of Pastner than you; you slammed him worse than others are slamming Tubby. Nothing to see here.

You continue to distort, twist & lie - that is what is so sad, frustrating & it demonstrates you are so confused by your contempt for our coach. Fact one, it is obvious that you were not in attendance for Memphis home games during JP's last 2-3 years or you would not repeat the 16K nonsense - it may be correct that Memphis sold 16K tickets but avg attendance (draw means attendance) was substantially less. Fact two - despite your continued claim, I was never "hateful" of JP during his entire tenure.

And to your comparisons claiming equality of wins in the B12 vs CUSA - simply delusional. I suppose you'd claim equality then for the conference champions of the Ohio Valley, Atlantic Sun, Big South, CAA, MAAC, Southern, Horizon League, NE, Summit, Patriot, American East, Big Sky, Big West, MEAC, Southland, & Sun Belt with those of the B12, the other P5 & even the AAC. Reality says the achievement of winning the CUSA title had much more in common with the other no name conferences I have listed than the B12 & B10 with which you attempt to beat Tubby over the head.

Quote: I suppose you'd claim equality then for the conference champions of the Ohio Valley, Atlantic Sun, Big South, CAA, MAAC, Southern, Horizon League, NE, Summit, Patriot, American East, Big Sky, Big West, MEAC, Southland, & Sun Belt with those of the B12, the other P5 & even the AAC.

We had RPI's between 14 and 32. Only someone very confused like you would say that conference champions with RPI's between 80-150 are equal...if the shoe fits I guess buddy.

Quote:Fact one, it is obvious that you were not in attendance for Memphis home games during JP's last 2-3 years or you would not repeat the 16K nonsense

I said specifically 2014; a full 5 years after Cal left, we still sold 16,100 tickets per game. Obviously, you can't read or grasp simple concepts. Two things for sure; 16,100 equals a lot more actual attendance than Tubby's 9,600 last year AND it equals millions of dollars in additional revenue for the program.

So again, obviously you are confused, frustrated and angry, and because of this you can't read...AND you flamed Pastner constantly.

Like the time we beat the #7 ranked Louisville team? Twice in one season. You mean like that?

lol. That was pretty awesome. I liked it when he almost got into fisticuffs with the Louisville player's dad and had to be restrained.

I think one or two of our players made some obscene gesture at the loserville fans that had been heckling them the whole game too as they were leaving.

good times.

Come on man, that was the outlier not the norm, he does that a few more times we ain't even talking about Tubby Smith right now. Tubby Smith might be a mistake but if we gave Pastner 7 years, I can wait a couple more on Tubby. Once again we ain't talkin about Tubby if Pastner doesn't muck up his last few years, I wish he hadn't but he did. I will bow out now, nobody is changing anyone's minds, can't wait for the season to find out.

Is a BS argument and when TS gets us there you type of fan will still find a way to piss and moan.

My expectations are the exact same for Sleepy Smith as for any other coach who has or will coach at Memphis, Sweet 16. If we make the Sweet 16 next season I will be happy, if we do not, I will not be happy.

My expectation is a S 16 or better slot by year 4 for Tubby. It allows time for a rebuild and is reasonable given the resources at Tubby's disposal.

Thanks, but it was a satirical comment. My post is a Game of Thones reference and signifies the folly of waiting for a catastrophe before preparing for it or talking about it.
