I'm glad we have smarter leaders than you. Thank you Steve Cohen and Mayor Strickland for protecting one of Memphis' true civic treasures from the SUV driving suburbanites who try to put their vehicles in a city park.

If Cohen didn't live across the street

but he does, and that fact makes his voice even more important...he actually has a totally valid reason to care and get involved...and he did.

so Kudos to Rep Cohen.

Agree with you. One issue that *conveniently* gets overlooked and not spoken about much... The Levitt Shell. A great Midtown amenity. When that place is packed cars are parked in the grass along every road in the park plus the evil Memphis Zoo allows their parking lot to be used free. These aren't suburbanites suv's either. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

I prefer parking along the side of the park roads to simply parking them in the greensward, which people actually use (can't say the side of park roads get used for anything useful).

EDIT: moreover, the Zoo isn't 'evil' but Chuck Brady sure needs to take a PR course or two... (or three, or four)

If he DIDNT live across the street, he would be silent. If it involved a park in South Memphis, he would be all over it preaching his usual racist rhetoric that is his specialty.

Whatever you say boss.

Statistics show a VERY large % of people that play the lottery are the very people that can LEAST afford it. The poor and underprivileged. The VERY people Cohen counts on during election time.

Cohen ONLY cares about a certain segment of society. They continue to re-elect him yet their standard of living is horrible and the large numbers of people in his district living in poverty remains very large.

Lets not forget his untruthful remarks about the gal he was texting on national TV. Was she is girlfriend? Was she his daughter? Was she his girlfriend? Was she his daughter? Little bit of a character issue on that subject.

I don't buy into the 'us vs them' mentality pushed by local conservatives. Folks in Germantown/Collierville/Bartlett need to realize Shelby County is in this together with Memphis. Without Memphis and all the jobs it provides via FedEx, AutoZone, International Paper, ServiceMaster, St Jude, The UofM, CBU/CBHS, Rhodes, UT-Memphis, all the hospitals, etc...there would be no wealthy suburbs.

Memphis needs to consolidate like Nashville.

Lucky for me and most with any intelligence, I DON'T live in Memphis.

How did the Consolidated School system do in those state test scores that were released this past week?

Drops the mic!!!

How did the Consolidated School system do

Germantown High, White Station High, Cordova High, Bolton High, Southwind High...they have some good schools.

That said, I agree that issue needs to be addressed.

But were totally cool with shutting down a taxpayer funded city park for the better part of 6 weeks to destroy it and charge fees to go there while we do it. (Tom Lee Park). Oh and during one of the nicest times (weather wise) to enjoy the expansive park.

But we'll instead get all pissed about a small plot of land that some hackey-sackers and jugglers might use.

Okay.

LOL Bolton? You mean Craigmont East. They fired their principle from last year due to poor test results.

You better check your facts again.

Okay.

the park is not shut down 01-wingedeagle the taxpayers come out in droves to enjoy it. The money made pays for the maintenance to said park.

What was the first thing Norvell said he knew about Memphis? Driving from UCA to Memphis for music fest with his buddies.
