I can't even began to imagine what it is like to go through something like that.

If the weather prognosticators are correct, Harvey's supposed to head back towards the Gulf tomorrow, hit water, pick up strength, then come ashore again and head North right through Houston . . . . One nasty freakin' storm. . . Hope everyone stays safe . . . .

I think I heard that they are actually delaying the start until after Labor Day now.

Most districts have done this. Houston ISD was supposed to start today but cancelled the week.

we have grandkids in Katy. our son and daughter-in-law are both teachers in the katy isd. the schools there are closed all week. they dont have any real flooding there, just a lot of rain. my wife's brother lives down off 45 near nasa with Buffalo bayou on his back fence. he has some water in his house. his wife slipped in it and dislocated shoulder. roads there were clear enough that he could drive her to hospital. water there is receeding some now

RE: OT - Harvey
I spent yesterday morning, into the afternoon, picking up parts of our trees that were everywhere, taking off the boards and helping, as I could, with the fence. My husband and our back neighbor (Curtis) spent their time fixing the fence. It was a lot easier than I expected and better than waiting for Insurance to assess. Basically, Insurance not needed. Curtis had some new pickets that he had bought, previously, for singular repairs and that helped. Unfortunately, Curtis is a banker (not disparaging bankers here) let's just say I can wield a hammer better, so, my 70-year-old hubby did the lion's share of the work. We will need to get 3/4 4x4 post and replace those but overall, it looks almost the same as it did before Harvey. We lost about a dozen shingles so that was good also.

After lunch and a nap, I spent the rest of the day watching the news coverage of Houston. All I can say is that my heart sank. It is indescribably horrific. I truly have no words for how I feel and thoughts and prayers seem trite right now. My thoughts won't stop the flooding and my prayers won't save a home but I will keep doing so.

For those affected, know that I care. For those that sent words of encouragement to me and mine, thank you more than you know. You helped keep me going and my mind off of what was happening and that was enormous

We are back under a Tropical Storm watch here but I doubt we get much more than a little rain.

RE: OT - Harvey
I am going to guess that our game against HBU will be cancelled or postponed. HBU classes are cancelled until Monday and the team hasn't been practicing. As much as would like to have this one win this year, I would rather the HBU players and their families be safe and focus on the storm and not the game.

Edit: I am guessing cancelled since they don't share open dates. TXST has an open date 12/2 but that is after the FCS regular season in over.

According to HBU, their campus wasn't hit that bad and assuming they can make the drive on Friday, the game is a go on Saturday.

Glad you came out all right. For a while it looked like it was going to be a direct hit on CC.

We are surrounded by water now.. And it has reached the barn.

Just have to hunker down best that we can.

At least we still have power. That has been huge for us

I heard Houston had 15 inches of rain on Sunday alone! 25 total. And more on the way.
Prayers are with you all.

My place near downtown has gotten over 30 inches. Areas east and southeast of town have already gotten over 40. I am sure southwest and west are close to 40 as well. North got it worse today.

Took in 4 local refugee horses tonight. We might be the last dry barn in Brazoria county and water is starting to come in.

There is no safe route out of the area with a trailer now... And no way we'd ever leave the horses behind so evacuation is not an option.

Need prayers desperately.

I heard on the news they were moving about a dozen horses out of an area today. I think they were riding them out. I wondered if that was you.
Hope it went well.
