i don't think these are necessarily the same suspended guys. some are, but Hawkins is a true freshman. maybe some are bleed-overs from last year and some are new, and MH just wants to lump them in together?

Hawkins was an early enrollee..so this could have been a spring time issue.

Alls, Hereford, Bethea and Edwards were part of the magnificent seven from last december. Continuing suspensions from 2016.

I thought non-PED substances were half a season, which would be 5.5 games, right? The fact that they are suspended four more games tells me that they do count the playoff games in the suspension period (thank god).

Why are they not suspended 3.5 games instead of four? They should be able to return for the second half of the Maine game.

i'm guessing (again) that this is a coach's decision. they could theoretically come back in the second half, but maybe he feels that would be a distraction? how would you split up first team reps in practice that week? if it is up to him, I don't blame him for doing that. better to let the backup get all the reps.

I could be wrong, maybe they'll be back in the 2nd half of that game, but I am not counting on it.

Thanks. I figured that was the likely reason. They COULD return, but Houston said no.

I remember last year, UNH's 1st string TE was suspended for substances and had to sit out the first 5.5 games. He came back starting in the second half of their monsoon road game at Elon during that hurricane. I seem to recall them struggling in that game and the TE helped provide a bit of a kick start to what was a flailing offense in that poor weather.

Either reading comprehension is a real issue on this board or connecting of disparate events is an issue. There is zero indication that today's announcement has anything at all to do with last years playoff suspensions. In fact, the specifics of today's announcement defy such a connection.
