RE: Anybody need a good laugh this morning?
Venables or Frost make some sense.

Again, Norvell, should we be really good this year, will likely have options...he can do so much better than that **** hole.

UCF at this moment pretty good place....and while Frost will have offers should they improve, he should think the same way. Wait on something better.

Venables an assistant...with a name...that would be a very solid, likely successful move. And it is time for him to take a head job if he ever plans on doing it. Starting at a lower tier SEC school, which will have little expectations for a bit, and will be satisfied by an occasional nice upset win, would make sense.

The guy is a great coach if you can stomach everything else about him... Of course amid scandals, I am not sure he is the guy you would want to bring in to replace Freeze.

Mike Norvell will have options. I do believe he would take the Ole Miss job, but I don't think he's a gambling man. He doesn't know how bad the sanctions will be.

I think he will end up at a higher tier SEC school eventually. Like a LSU, Georgia, or Florida. He can be patient here.

Ole Miss might pay well, but it's still one of the worst jobs in the SEC.

Yup. I'm guessing Norvell will be gone in 1-2 years. I'll wish him the best wherever he goes. He's done wonders for our program in the 1.5 years he's been here. That being said, I'd really hate to see him in Oxford. That might be too much to stomach.

Yep, It's likely that Norvell will leave but just don't go THERE.

Offers from P-5 schools (especially high profile schools) for Norvell means success at Memphis. I wish him well.

I follow another member of this board on twitter who was talking to Norvell as all this broke last night. Here's what she tweeted:

Attn tiger fans: told Mike Norvell not to answer any phone calls from 662 area codes. His response: why? Explained situation he laughed

Doesn't sound like OM has been in contact. Besides, no coach in their right mind would leave until after the season. And I'm not sure many up and coming coaches would want any part of this train wreck.

My greatest fear is a repeat of 2015.

Tigers looking to have one of the greatest football seasons in school history. Start out strong, lots of media attention, knock off a P5 school... then head coach starts backroom deals in the middle of the season and tank the rest of the year.

Been there, done that. Hope Norvell says, "no thanks" to Ole Miss feelers after we beat UCLA.

Here is what I think will happen: Notre Dame and Texas a&m will both fire their coaches at the end of the season and their will be a bidding war for Chip Kelley. The loser of the two will hire Norvell as a consolation prize. Memphis should be in prime position to hire the next up and coming assistant

The longer the NCAA drags its feet, the fewer coaching candidates are going to want to take that chance with ole miss.

Mike Norvell is definitely better than Ole Miss, even when OM is not on the hot seat with NCAA. Norvell will get a big boy job at a big boy school in the next two years.
