Pick your OOC MAC upset of year and runner up
AKRON: @ Penn State, v Arkansas-Pine Bluff, v Iowa State, @ Troy
BOWLING GREEN: @ Michigan State, v South Dakota, @ Northwestern, @ Middle Tennessee
BUFFALO: @ Minnesota, @ Army, v Colgate, v Florida-Atlantic
KENT STATE: @ Clemson, v Howard, @ Marshall, @ Louisville
MIAMI-OHIO: @ Marshall, v Austin Peay, v Cincinnati, @ Notre Dame
OHIO: v Hampton, @ Purdue, v Kansas, @ UMass
BALL STATE: @ Illinois, v UAB, v Tennessee Tech, @ Western Kentucky
CENTRAL MICHIGAN: v Rhode Island, @ Kansas, @ Syracuse, @ Boston College
EASTERN MICHIGAN: v Charlotte, @ Rutgers, @ Kentucky, @ Army
NORTHERN ILLINOIS: v Boston College, v Eastern Illinois, @ Nebraska, @ San Diego State
TOLEDO: v Elon, @ Nevada, v Tulsa, @ Miami (FL)
WESTERN MICHIGAN: @ USC, @ Michigan State, v Idaho, v Wagner

I am going with Miami over Cincinnati. My second upset pick would be EMU over Rutgers even though that really wouldn't be much of an "upset".

Overall, it looks like the MAC has some pretty soft OOC schedules this year. Unless I missed something, CMU is the only team to have 3 P5 teams scheduled (although Kansas might as well be FCS). WMU and Toledo have pretty tough OOC schedules though.

Miami over Cincinnati won't be an upset. We will just win.

Upset of the year - Miami (Oh) over Notre Dame

Runner-up - Toledo over Miami (Fl)

Miami vs Toledo (both in Top 25) in MACC

I'm a homer, but we're going to put MSU out of their misery.

I'll take EMU over Rutgers.

P.S. EMU has never beat a B1G team, so don't assume that this should be a win for EMU.

And, of course, it is at Rutgers.

Through my Cardinal covered glasses there is potential for a NIU win vs Boston College.

Though any goodwill from that victory will probably be for naught after a epic smackdown from an angry, not a lot of recent success, need a good run to the BigEleven season Nebraska.

Take off your glasses, we are currently favorites in that game...

This is the dream, and it is not impossible, but never brag before you actually prove yourself. Vegas has our over/under number at 8, they probably have a good handle on what is reasonable. If everything breaks right, what you predicted above could happen, but just remember this group has not experienced a winning season and Miami has not won since 2011 (when we went from 1-11 to 10-4 and MAC and Bowl game champs, which does point out that your prediction is possible).

RE: Pick your OOC MAC upset of year and runner up
I see these possible:
Akron over Iowa St
Bowling Green St over Michigan St and/or Northwestern
Buffalo - sorry, I don't see it
Kent St - sorry, I don't see it
Miami of Ohio - sorry, I don't see it
Ohio over Purdue, and/or Kansas
Ball St over Illinois
Central Michigan over Kansas, Syracuse, and/or Boston College
Eastern Michigan over Rutgers (that'd be huge, when was the last time EMU beat a Power 5)
Northern Illinois over Boston College
Toledo over Miami Florida
Western Michigan over Michigan St

I could see 4 or 5 of these. Some really wouldn't be considered upsets. I'd probably bet on CMU and Ohio getting one each, maybe two, and then a couple others

Looking forward to it. Out-of-conference flipping between games and DVRing or watching the midnight replay on ESPN is one of my favorite times!

About a month to go!

A lot of it will depend on injuries and turnovers but the mac usually has 3 or 4 sometimes 5 good upsets/wins over P5

I don't think Akron gets one, Iowa St is improving and their coach knows Akron and Bowden's schemes

I don't think BG gets one either but I could see them taking one of those middle of the pack BIG10 teams down to the wire with some breaks

Buffalo is the team I think we'll have a better year than expected. Doubt they upset a solid Minnesota team but they will have a shot considering Minny will be installing brand new schemes this year. I think they beat either Army or FAU (who should be a good G5 program under Kiffin)

Kent's sched is murder

I'll pick Miami over Cincy at home

Ohio beats Kansas and the Purdue game should be a close one

Ball St will need some luck to beat Illinois but the talent gap won't be huge as Ill has been out of sorts as a program for years. WKU on the road looks too tough but maybe they get a bunch of turnovers

CMU-Kansas should be a tight game and BC's conservative style and limited offense should mean a close contest

EMU beating Rutgers would be big. They closest they've come to big non conf win in the past decade is last year's home squeaker over Wyoming. Depends on if they can put together a competent oline because the rest of their squad looks decent on paper.

NIU at home vs BC should be close, I don't think they beat SDSU on the road. NIU always seems to play terrible out west.

Toledo has a tough G5 game against Tulsa and Miami (Fla) is loaded everywhere but their secondary which means Toledo might have a shot if they can contain the pass rush on Woodside, especially considering they get the Canes after their tilt with Florida St which might leave them beat up or on an emotional let down.

I'll pick WMU over MIch St if they get that QB situation figured out and don't have major injuries in the USC game the week before.

So, P5 wins: either NIU or CMU over BC, WMU over MSU, CMU and Ohio over Kansas

Big G5 wins: Miami over Cincy, Toledo over Tulsa, Buffalo over Army

Less likely, but possible, Toledo over Miami, Ball St over Illinois, Ohio over Purdue, EMU over Rutgers

Upset of the year: EMU @ Rutgers. I think momentum is rising with that program. They're not going to win the conference, but I could certainly see a win over B10 member Rutgers. That would be huge for the Eagles program after they have come a long way and it would be a nice OOC win for the MAC.

My biased pick: Toledo @ Miami (FL). But I truly think the Rockets can manage to bring back a W with the league's and one of the nation's best offense guiding the way.

I love it.

Kent will be a 3 TD favorite...

I just hope Kent covers the point spread. 03-lmfao

I agree EMU may be able to do it. They are on the rise and Rutgers is flat out awful. EMU is 0-29 against the B10 so this may be their chance.

Toledo should be really good. They have beaten Iowa State (B12), Purdue (B10), Arkansas (SEC), Temple (AAC), Cincy (Big East) in the last 6 years or so. They also nearly knocked off Ohio State (B10), Arizona (Pac 12), Syracuse (ACC). Toledo always shows up against the bigger teams.

Fun fact:

The MAC has won 3 straight against the B12. The first MAC game this season against a B12 team is CMU vs. Kansas. Could go to 4-0.

Maybe the MAC should look at accepting some B12 teams into the conference

If Oklahoma State was in the MAC, they would claim to have gone undefeated every year in MAC play...

We all know how they can't take a loss to a MAC school with dignity.
