RE: greatest game you ever attended
my buddy and i left rogue brewery in newport, oregon well on our way to a splendid time when we abruptly got hammered in the tap room. trying to find a place to spend the night when you're twice the legal limit (presumably) towards evening is a taxing experience. we found some cheap motel which is a luxury for us and my buddy it seemed would rather just enjoy that television because he doesn't have one. so i went outside and smoked a cigarette. there was some hoot'n and holler'n so i discerned it was a high school. it being friday, i knew what that meant. i finished my cigarette in a hurried, casual manner and altered my friend who hates sports. we packed his backpack with a couple of beers and headed over. found a hillside vantage and cracked open. it was towards the end of the third quarter we arrived. that orange team was ahead. i remembered terrible a quality it is in high school. we finished our beers towards where they finished their game and it was one of the highlights from the time i drove across the country

So that's why Payton Manning didn't win the Heisman his senior year at Tennessee :-)

PM was Mr. Happy Feet that day. He was probably flinching and looking over his shoulder for the next few days following that game.

Most favorite I attended was 2000 Southern Miss vs. (15) Alabama
USM wins 21 - 0.

Second favorite was 2003 Southern Miss vs. (10) TCU
USM wins 40 - 28, never close. TCU recovered 3 onside kicks late in game and scored 21 quick points. TCU was 10-0 going into that game and would have been the first BCS buster team, Utah became first a year later.

That was CUSA's first year of a potential BCS buster.

I wasn't at this game, but I doubt any Houston fan has this on their list:
Second potential BCS buster was in 2011, (24) Southern Miss vs. (7) Houston.
USM wins 49 - 28. If USM hadn't lost a close one to UAB 2 games earlier, that game would have decided which team, USM or UH, would go to likely the Sugar Bowl.

I remember that ISM-UH game. Tulsa and UH were both undefeated in conference play going into the last game. UH beat us to go to the CCG. And then blew it against Southern Miss and cost our conference good BCS money.

Temple vs. Vilenova - 2/10/88 - McGonigle Hall, Phila., PA.

Temple was #1 ranked, Vilenova was #20, but acted like they should be #1. The Owls schooled them 98 - 86, with PG Howard Evans scored 15 points, 20 assists, zero turnovers. The 5500 seat McGonigle Hall was filled an hour before gametime, and was absolutely electric.

Most ECU fans would say the over 70 points we scored on UNcheat and ran the clock out in the fourth quarter. Maybe the peach bowl win or blocked punt against VT for the win. But my favorite was the Hail Mary as time expired against Tulsa, what a heck of a game04-cheers

My son was at that ECU/Tulsa game and all the ECU fans around him were congratulating him on the win and BAM. Very deflating for TU fans but it was an exciting game.

That was my first Tulsa game to watch (on tv) as a TU student. Dissapointing ending for us, but it was entertaining at least.

Be glad that you didn't have to suffer through the year before that.

Unfortunately I caught that one on TV. As Les Keiter would say, 'a barn burner.'

The greatest game that i saw in person was UConn v 10 USF in 2007, my dad took me there when i was a kid and i watched them beat #10 usf and storm the field it was pretty awesome. it was UConn's first win vs a top 25 opponent so it was pretty special, still brings a tear to my eye.

As for basketball....i went to college game day v Syracuse and even tho they lost it was a amazing game a crazy atmosphere.

1984 Chicago Cubs v Philadelphia Phillies

My first game ever in Wrigley.

Sandberg hit two homeruns (one onto Waveland), the cubs won and I fell in love with them that year on WGN.

Yes, I cried when they lost game 5 to the Padres. No shame in a 12 year old crying because his team lost.

that was a close second.....we would have won that one too if Zeke hadn't collided with Cletus Dale.
