You're very correct. USF average huge numbers while in the Big East, then when we lost under Skip Holtz, attendance plummeted to virtually nothing. Started coming back under Taggart, to where we averaged 37K last year. A continuous winner is the main factor in drawing fans, if you are not a major long time power school. I see no reason why a winning Georgia State can't consistently draw over 30K fans easily in a metro of 6M.
30k easily when winning? Not one SBC team draws over 30k and Ga State is going to do it if they win? University of Houston in a Bigger city and a better school easily averages over 30k when winning. IMO you're reaching big time.
Same size city.

Who told you They're the same size city? Houston is 4th largest city and AtL is in the 30s. It's closer in the Metro area but Houston leads by over a million in that too. Are UH and Ga State the same type of programs too? Come on now.

as a metro school there are similarities between gastate and uh for sure but I would think gastate situation is more like uta's. dfw is a larger metro area than atlanta but has the same kind of attractions that compete with their sports programs. uh has at least spent some years near the big time when aligned with the old swc and they have some decent money sources. altho uta has over 41,000 now and 200,000+ alumni, there is no past history of being any kind of sports machine except in their juco days when they won the national championship a cpl. of times. It' going to take some winning seasons and beating some "name" teams at home for the program to gain traction. gatech and uga have a 100 year head start.

So if Ga State starts winning they're going to average more fans than App State, Ga Southern, Ark State, and ULL? Last I check
They don't average over 30k.
I said that?

No idea. And we.were 2-4 before that November run so likely the attendance was better at the beginning of 2016.

Thats a large investment but will they draw fans? Seems that question gets blown right past.
You should start a thread about that...

I love watching big construction projects. Even the infamous "Bridge to Nowhere". Could this possibly be "The Stadium for Nobody"? (You're welcome GATA)

I see this more of a possible revenue opportunity via rental for concerts and monster trucks. Don't see the Panthers breaking off the UGA, GaTech, pro sports and even GATA fans.

The Florida twins (the F_Us) sure pack 'em in, even when they win. Yeah, that's the ticket. 03-shhhh
I love how the troll tread keeps returning to being a troll thread. LOL.

We aren't competing again GT and UGA. That's mistake number one that mid majors make in large pro cities. Our competition is one level down. MLS, Gwinett Braves, Arena Football etc. Price and market accordingly.

So no, an SBC team in Atlanta will not average 30k. We are playing SBC teams. But at the same time 20k is more than reasonable.

Atlanta 5.7 and Houston 6.7. That million people.

That's like saying 25k is the same as 30k in football attendance.

You could probably Google it. For example, I just googled what the Southland Conference budgets are and the good news is you guys will be among the Top 5 in the conference when you move back after 2020.

http://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/finances/

Being #179 isn't so bad considering that at least 20 of those above you guys don't play football. So really it's more like #159. That's not bad if your're thinking of numbers between 1 and 300.

My apologies Somone else did. I think 20k is realistic but that's not butts in seats that's tickets sold. I think 15-17k if you're winning is more realistic and even then idk. The stadium will definitely help and the trying to make it look like a real campus too.

Yet we're undefeated against Ga State in football. Makes y'all look even worse. Lol If you're going to talk smack you should beat us first. Thanks.. don't you get a lot of your money from student fees? Like the highest students pay out of any school.

Bought a stadium and renovating it without a dime of student fees. And will have reduced subsidy from 88% to 55% in 4 years by next year. Your move.

Not arguing I just said you're not going average 30k fans a game, said Houston Ian bigger than ATL which it is, asked a honest question about attendance. That's it.

Yeah and Monroe fits in my subdivision. And it was not a GSU fan that mentiokmed 30k. So now we are done.

That's awesome about the stadium and I wasn't talking smack. You guys started that. Regardless of this or that y'all still haven't beat us in football and it won't happen in the next two years either. So with all our faults and your superiority you still can't beat us. Lol

Yes I know that's why I said my bad. I live n grew up
in Houston and Monroe fits my neighborhood too. Your point? We're still going to beat you this year and you'll still lose to the lowest budget team
In FBS. Good for you! You got me.
