3x Ohio Division II 100 meter Champion Dakari Carter breezed to a 100 win with a time of 10.89 seconds, plus relay victories in the 4x100 and 4x200 at the PTC Track and Field Championships.

I posted this in the recruiting thread. Bryce Mitchell won the TCL in high jump (6'5") and long jump (23'11" breaking the record) as well the 100 and 200.

Seems UT has some good track guys coming in this class.

RE: Tycen Anderson
Mitchell won the DI District 100M (11.3 with high winds) and LJ (23-9, longest in the state). Pretty good for a guy in his first year in track.

Anderson jumped just over 23' for second place and won the HJ (6-6).

Wonder the interest on Mitchell's part, doing the hitting instead of being the target? If these guys got any cuts to their speed, can you imagine our secondary? We'd have that corner fade defended for sure.

Pretty sure he was recruited as a receiver.

Yes, hence "wonder the interest..."

We've been getting some high quality local recruits these last 5-6 years, hope the high schools can continue to deliver. That group that went though Whitmer 5-6 years ago and since has been quite extraordinary. High achievers on the field, court and classroom.

RE: Tycen Anderson
Mitchell and Anderson 1-2 in LJ Finals at the Amherst regional, foot and more past the nearest competitor. On to state. High Jump i Friday.

Prelims: Mitchel third in the 100 and Anderson 8 in the 200 making the finals in those events.

Whitmer leading after 4 events, placed 1-3 in the pole vault. Expect St. Ignatius will win when all is said and done.

RE: Tycen Anderson
Mitchel wins state with a jump of 24-3 in his first attempt. Three of his jumps were longer the 2nd place. He wasn't in the high jump but his heights would have been competitive for 3rd. This kid has been jumping one year. Face it fellas, he's going to be hard to hold on to. He'll be picked up for track by a major player. B-Ball, F-Ball, jumping and with his size and speed, he could be a decathlete.

Anderson was 4th with 23-5.50 His jumps today look a little off, lower than his normal.

Dakari Carter had to withdraw from his attempt at a 4th 100m due to hamstring.

Great year by these Rocket Recruits.

Mitchell, with almost no training, could eventually be over 26 feet. UT has an indoor LJ facility and needs to give him some time to work on the LJ, if he wants to, and compete in meets as an unattached athlete.

Are you saying a college with track will try to get him to go there?
He has already signed a Letter Of Intent (LOI) to play football at Toledo. UT would have to grant his release for him to do that.
Also, he is a Rocket Football Legacy with his father being a former Rocket player.....

I like that. I honestly could not imagine UT NOT granting that release but there's obviously some hometown pride in the young man. If football is his goal, here is a great place for him. Last draft showed that.

I hope track still plays a role in his future. Someone jumps 24 feet in such a technical sport with one year experience? Do we even have a coach that can further an athlete like that?

So if Mitchel gets to the eight yard line with a head of steam he should be able to jump over defenders into the end zone. Cool! Nice to have another Glyn Smith on the team. That jump, BTW, is number twenty in the nation but about two feet short of number one.

Just occurred to me, 24'3" might be a new City League record. Longest I can find previous is 24'1"

If you saw the same site I did 24'1" was tops but all of those records were set before 2000 so I suspect that's pretty dated. There was no publishing date on that site. Can't be many better jumps, though.

RE: Tycen Anderson
Easy enough to go through milesplit and get the city league championship results for those missing years but it wouldn't give results from other meets. I went for the obvious and checked Kynard, He doesn't have a long jump recorded on milesplit. Him and Allen are the only two that come to mind with that talent.
