Exclamation Breakout Players 2017
Who are the players on your team who haven't yet made a name for themselves but could very well be doing so this year?

Could be a guy who had flashes of brilliance before a season-ending injury last year or a rising redshirt freshmen who has been really good in practice or a transfer or whatever.

For Georgia Southern, it will be Wesley Fields. With Matt Breida gone we've got less of a crowd at running back and I expect him to have a big year. He is probably next in the line of Georgia Southern backs to get the call up to the NFL after next season IMO.

Oh, and I would add sophomore corner Monquavion Brinson for GS, too. He did very good as a true freshman. Didn't have the interceptions that Clifton Duck had but didn't have a whole lot of balls thrown his way, either.

For South I'm going defense, probably one of the guys who sat out last year with an injury. I'll go with DE Jimmie Gipson. He's a JC who saw limited action as a Junior, but had a lot of people talking before injuring his Achilles preseason a year ago.

I'd add Missouri transfer DE Rocel McWilliams as well. I've heard his name a lot during his season of sitting out.

For ULM I would say:

- Derrick Gore, RB transfer from Alabama (scored a TD in the SEC Championship game against Florida)
- J. J. Dallas, CB (his girlfriend is a cheerleader for the Houston Texans)
- Josh Pederson, TE (father is head coach for the Philadelphia Eagles)

These guys are talented. Hope they bust loose in 2017.

I really don't know.... but if App has a receiver or two "breakout", it could be a memorable season.

I like what's going on down in Monroe. Gives me hope that ULM will be contender soon.

RE: Breakout Players 2017
for TXST:

Offense:
Soph WR Thurman Morbley - Morbley caught 35 balls for 400 yards last year so he isn't totally anonymous but he should breakout as one of the better WRs in the Sun Belt this year. He wasn't very highly recruited out of HS but he caught a lot of balls for powerhouse East Texas Liberty-Aylau HS.

Defense:
Sr OLB Easy Anyama - Probably not expecting to see a Senior as a breakout player but Easy has had an interesting career. As a freshman he was a sprinter at UT (60m, 60m hurdles, 4x100; no football) and then transferred to TXST as a sophomore, where in his first season he started a few games as an undersized linebacker (~205 lbs). As a junior last year, he looked to be one of our better players on defense before he had a season-ending injury. He's listed now as 6'-3" 240 lbs, which is good size for a fast outside linebacker.

Hopefuls:
Soph DE Dean Taylor - Taylor started a few games last year at DE as a true freshman at around 230 lbs. He's now listed at 270 and looks very, very athletic. He was recruited by TXST despite only playing less than one year at powerhouse Pearland HS. He was a big athletic looking skater-kid and his high school coaches convinced him to try football his senior year.

Jr DE Grant Lanza - Lanza sat out last year due to NCAA rules after transferring from Robert Morris College. He should provide good size on the defensive line being listed at 6'4" 280. According to everyone around the program, he's a workout warrior who wrecked shop on the starters last year as a member of the scout team.

So John Law finally moved on? It might just be because of our rivalry, but I swear I thought that dude was at App for like the last 12 years.

From what I hear the RS freshman you have on your list have the potential to be really, really good. If they live up to the hype we are going to be competing for championships and bowl titles for the next 3 or 4 years, with or without the current staff.

It does seem like John has been around a long time. He played in his first 3 games as a freshman but was injured and received a medical redshirt. A starter next four years although the injury bug hit again his soph season and limited him to 9 games. Going to be strange not seeing #88 at ILB.

Defensive coordinators wised up to how we our used the TE last year and lmited Burns' catches. Soph Colin Reed was the #1 rated TE in SC his senior year and is a better receiver than blocker, but you know we ask our TE's to block a lot. It'll be interesting to see how McClurg does as a RS Fr.

I can't rep point, so thanks. I knew Burns had several TD catches in 15. I feel like more offensive threats could make this season amazing, but who ever knows? I suppose we do recruit TEs for blocking over scoring.
