Any chance we'll get a TE scoring for us?

Defensive coordinators wised up to how we our used the TE last year and lmited Burns' catches. Soph Colin Reed was the #1 rated TE in SC his senior year and is a better receiver than blocker, but you kow we ask our TE's to block a lot. It'll be interesting to see how McClurg does as a RS Fr.

I can't rep point, so thanks. I knew Burns had several TD catches in 15. I feel like more offensive threats could make this season amazing, but who ever knows? I suppose we do recruit TEs for blocking over scoring.

I took care of the rep point for ya. 04-cheers

RE: Breakout Players 2017
As you can imagine I'm extremely pessimistic about TXST's chances at being good this year. Based off of last year I don't expect any current players to ball out that haven't already. So I hope a freshman can step up and dominate. I'll go with our CB Roach since he was our highest rated recruit. I guess Damian Williams would be the obvious answer though.

RB Derrick Gore from Bama going to get his shot to be carry the ball.
JUCO CB JJ Dallas big CB.
My dark horse is RS freshman DE Kerry Starks. He tore it up in the spring pass rushing. I don't think he ready for every down DE but situational pass rusher he should get some sacks and pressure. They call him turbo because his speed off the ball.

LB David Griffith had a solid year last year led the team in tackles. Another year with a real strength coach and in the system he should be a all
Conference candidate.

From what I hear the RS freshman you have on your list have the potential to be really, really good. If they live up to the hype we are going to be competing for championships and bowl titles for the next 3 or 4 years, with or without the current staff.
The staff has put together quite an impressive group. If Satterfield moves on the next few years some coach will walk into a great situation.

He kinda broke out last year. Just ask Toledo...

Could be a guy who had flashes of brilliance before a season-ending injury last year or a rising redshirt freshmen who has been really good in practice or a transfer or whatever.

For Georgia Southern, it will be Wesley Fields. With Matt Breida gone we've got less of a crowd at running back and I expect him to have a big year. He is probably next in the line of Georgia Southern backs to get the call up to the NFL after next season IMO.

RB Fields
QB that wins the job with his feet
WR that wins the lead receiver position
DB pick any of them returning from last years starters
DT Sapp if he lost weight a lot of weight
DE No clue lots of newbies
LB No clue lots of newbies
OL No clue they were all pretty bad last year

See GS 2016

Not when you hire a head coach that doesn't go completely away from the skill set of the players in the program.

RE: Breakout Players 2017
The first name I thought of was DB Shemar Jean-Charles. App has a tradition of young DB's stepping up big out of the game (Gibbs 2015, Duck 2016) and he'll have a chance.

I'm also thinking Ryan Neuzil on the OL. He could be the starting center.

RB Terrence Upshaw missed 2016 due to academics, but he's back and is a senior, watch out for him.

I've thought about it, and wouldn't be shocked to see Malik Williams do some work.

What about Justice Hansen? He didn't catch a lot of attention last year sharing snaps with Voytik and with Ark State's slow offensive start.

Justice broke out against GS and went 8-1 as a starter . . .

You need to add Seth Calloway to this list. He played inside in 2016 as a undersize DT at 267. He was one of the Sun Belt Conference best run stoppers. Now that Neal has moved him outside as a DE, which is what he was recruited for, he will be one of the Sun Belt Conference unknown that will make waves all year long if he can stay healthy. I do Like Clemons but I do believe his break out year will be in 2018 when he has had one year at the D-1 level.
