I never said I had no problem with that as I personally I could care less what conference UTEP could move to as it doesn't have to be the MWC. By the way, if you haven't followed the MWC they did this same neutral court experiment at the Pepsi Center in Denver for three years because there were complaints about always having it at UNLV's home court every year. After that they figured that the tournament did better in Las Vegas so they moved it back there after three years in Denver.

We should have four schools in postseason play every year.
I'm afraid the NCAA Selection committee is to the point where, no matter how much C-USA improves in hoops, we will get just one in the Dance
We can get two. Perception will change over time, but we've got to start getting serious about basketball now.

Two is doable. There are steps to take--but the schools need to act NOW.Invest in your program and do not settle for mediocrity. We need all fourteen to move in a positive direction.

From what our AD said during his latest podcast, there's a plan in place to have the better basketball programs play tougher competition to raise their RPI and the weaker ones to play a softer schedule to get wins. I hope they consider a new scheduling format at some point that decreases crossover games to free up room for more OOC games.
And I don't know about anyone else, but Rice has a big problem with good talent transferring out whenever there's a coaching change. This is the second time that it has happened to us and it's killing continuity. I don't know if the NCAA needs to stiffen the penalties for transfers, but it's a big problem. We can't keep our good talent. My thought is that if the conference is considered a solid basketball conference, less of this will happen. Hell I don't know.

They have been saying this ever since we joined the Conference...The teams who are not committed to hoops which include the usual bottom 5 are probably never going to invest in hoops....The teams like us, ODU, Char., UTEP, UAB that invest in hoops all need to step up their games....
NCAA will never stiffen penalties for transfers because it helps the "bigger" programs....Low to mid majors without much commitment to hoops are becoming farm systems for bigger programs who can get talent that are already developed, fine tuned which leads to programs losing guys after a season or two....So far WKU has not had any like guys transfer who were big time players and we have benefitted from the grad transfers a little, but this is just the start is my guess, will probably become more common even at WKU in the future...Nothing that benefits the little guy will ever be done, its all about who has the money and what the "bluebloods" want to do and have their pick of talent.....

We have a huge problem with transfers but our talent leaves due to not having a coaching change.

Nothing will be done because it helps the "bigger programs"...Lower level programs finds these guys, develop them then they jump to a P5 school after a year or two....So really its a farm system...Minor League to major league...

The question was not what will be done, but what should be done. So, if you were the Rules Guy for college baseball, what changes would you make to the transfer rules?
Nothing will be done haha...You were the one that said something should be done, what is your suggestion?

I think you have me confused with somebody else. But, maybe my memory is going, so just quote me. If I am the one who said something should be done, then I will answer your question.
If not, you will answer mine. Deal?

Patrick Sparks was pretty damn good, imo. First-team All-Sunbelt to the Cayats (for those that don't know).

How about this as a transfer rule. A transfer must sit out a year is already a rule but why not add that while sitting out that year they also lose a year of eligibility.

Well to make myself feel very old, I don't consider 2002 when I was going to WKU to be in the modern trend of top players transferring out....But yes Sparks left after his sophomore year, that has been the exception more than the norm....Now we have had a lot of guys transfer out, just not very good players....

Its sucks but why penalize the player?, when coaches can leave left and right and leave everyone hanging.....It seems to be a generational social norm in that loyalty does not exist anymore...Adults, coaches, kids, etc, you name it...

How about this? You can transfer and play right away, but you lose a year of eligibility. To hell with these guys leaving all the time. They need to honor their commitment.
