Going to be a barn burner of a tournament. 04-cheers

We tried our best to blow it.

Yep, this tournament is great (location and venue) and this year it is wide open. Only down fall is that I wish we could get more people in the stands.

It's tough to get people to baseball games in the middle of days and I would love to see them move it to Dunedin where the Blue Jays have spring training. Nicer area and Dunedin has a nice little downtown.

So UCF is the #1 seed since they play the last place team, ECU, that mean they're the sole winners of the regular season conference championship?

Meh, Tbh if the shoe was on the other foot UH fans would be in outrage. We obviously can't turn down a trophy but UCF is the champs. H2h counts, If UH wins tourney then we can claim both as we would have better record, but today I'm cool with saying UCF is the champs. Should be a good tournament.

Except, it doesn't. If we would have ended up tied with UConn, I wouldn't feel any different. Everyone knew the rules going into the weekend.

It's pretty silly. UCF is the champ. We're the co-champ. They beat us fair and square.

And yet, in this "participation ribbon society" the league allows Houston to call itself "conference champs."

Pretty sure the coaches voted in favor of that. Looks better on #2's resume.

We here at UCONN can attest to that.

A regular championship is nice. The tournament championship gives you the automatic NCAA Tourney bid.
It looks like all four top AAC teams are heading there.

This tournament will be fun to watch and it will be interesting to see how far our teams get in the NCAA.

AAC Tournament with RPIs
Bracket A
#5 Tulane #73
#4 USF #18

#8 ECU #88
#1 UCF #21

Bracket B
#7 Memphis #111
#2 Houston #23

#6 UC # 84
#3 UConn #40

Looks like the first three are safely in. UConn can't afford a two and out the bottom 4 will have to win it all to go to NCAA Tourney.
Bracket A looks like the toughest road.

Does everyone know who their Tuesday pitching starters will be? For ECU, we know we are going with Kruz on Tuesday. He (nor our Saturday starter Benton) pitched this past weekend at UConn. I saw UCF threw Howell on Thursday vs. USF so wasn't sure if they would bring him back on relatively short rest to go on Tuesday vs. us?

I have to think that Tim Cate goes for UCONN on Wednesday. He pitched on Thursday vs. ECU so he should have the proper amount of rest.

No word yet, but it will be interesting how each team handles it. Whitting may be tempted to go with Henry against Memphis, not because of taking them lightly, but because of how it could set up if we could pull out a win. We could then have Ullom and Cumbie to give us a shot at wrapping up the bracket, and then King for the title game.

It's a risky strategy, though. Lose early, and we're screwed, but you can probably say the same for everyone.

I mentioned Cate as the possible Wednesday starter. Thursday's starter almost assuredly will be Willis Montgomery, whether we win or lose on Wednesday.

I think USF might start their #2 who didn't pitch vs UCF this past weekend. That could leave our #1 for game 2
