You're out of your friggin' mind.
So your position is that is better to FCS than FBS? That's what I'm talking about. Nothing else. I'll give you another opportunity in case you misunderstood my post. FCS or FBS for JMU?
You said (and I quote) "It's a safe bet most JMU fans would trade positions with LU in a heartbeat"...you said nothing about trying to separate out FB as a qualifier in a FBS vs. FCS decision, and inferences don't count for squat.
You see, in the real world that I inhabit, you can't just compare one sport between universities and consider it an apples to apples comparison. Then again, perhaps you prefer "Fantasy FB" over the real game, so you don't find the make-believe idea comparing LU and JMU on the basis of FB offensive.
Bottom line, if you'd like to switch places with LU be my guest. I'll be attending the JMU games, no matter the level of competition.
For grins, why don't you create a poll, and ask JMU fans the question (just as you phrased it), and see what kind of responses you receive?
Poll Question:
"As a JMU fan, would you trade positions (FCS for FBS) with LU in a heartbeat?"
So you are stating that you believe that what I meant to say, since I neglected to add football to my post, that all at JMU fans would rather be LU fans. Geez, LH, cut me some slack. That is one utterly ridiculous, unbelievable reply, and an ultimate stretch to even think, must less post it. Again, would you rather play football in the FCS or in FBS as an indy as LU?

I'd prefer to be in 1A, but would not like to switch places with LU's athletic program. They are isolated even before being indy in my opinion.

I am not an FBS at any cost guy. LU is, and if you are too, and you think the vast majority of JMU fans are (and would happily swap places with LU) post a poll, using the language you previously used to express your enthusiasm for FBS FB. I think you'll be surprised by the results.

RE: LU opens 2018 season in Lynchburg with ODU
Wow- Liberty hosts ODU. So an independent FCS/FBS mid major hosts another FCS/FBS mid major. Kind of like when JMU hosts Richmond. I'm guessing that the game won't be televised since ODU's home game against UNC wasn't picked up for TV this season. BTW JMU's game at UNC was televised last year on ESPN 3- ya know the game where left behind/big fish in a small pond JMU led UNC at half. The last time ODU played UNC they didn't even play 4 full quarters. BTW the lack of TV for ODU UNC probably has something to do with Foreman Field not being TV ready for trucks, etc. but it probably has something to do with there not being much demand to see the game from the public because the public doesn't view ODU to be at the same level as UNC.
You guys will have to give better examples than this as to why JMU has been left at the depot station after the last bus left. Nothing to see here- carry on.

Love your enthusiasm, but this statement may need a little fact checking. Score at the half was UNC 35 JMU 21. We were playing so well during the 15 minutes you may have thought we'd played a couple quarters.

Longhorn has a good point; football does not operate in a vacuum. JMU is a university with many different interests. A step towards the position of LU would undoubtedly be a step in the wrong direction. I-A Independent is not a good look for us. We need a strong conference for our other sports as well.

Is it confirmed that all of liberty's athletics programs are going independent? Last I read, liberty was going to try to keep all sports except football in the Big South. If the latter is successful, I would like us to take the same approach, football FBS independent and all other sports in the CAA. This should not be hard to do given CAA football is a different entity than the rest of the CAA. We really need to be FBS already when the next round of realignment comes around (not to mention we are now playing in the third tier of college football). Hoping that we will be the one FCS call up is a risky approach to take.

RE: LU opens 2018 season in Lynchburg with ODU
To answer the question. I would rather play FCS in arguably the best FCS conference in the country and have a legitimate chance at a national championship then be an independent FBS school who gets ODU at home in 2018.
I do wish LU good luck though. Their move is a bold one but made less bold because they play in the Big South.

All LU home games are on ESPN3 or one of the other versions of ESPN. So LU vs. ODU will be watchable.

Oh we'll finish this one...
Just ran out of linebackers in the last one.
When you have to move FCS Defensive Ends to LB to cover FBS Tight Ends and WR, well, we saw how that worked.
If you want to bring up an embarrassing game, the first Marshall game was worse. It was at home, we were hyped, and we were relatively healthy in that one.

Liberty is paying ODU $1.32 million to come to town. They're paying P5 money to G5...which is exactly what I said they would do to fill a schedule.

That is utterly breathtaking in its insanity. My three reactions are:
(1) Where the H is that money coming from? Donations?
(2) It burns me up that ODU is getting that sort of coin. It should be us!
(3) If we ever PAID anything like that to bring ODU to Harrisonburg I would literally consider turning in my diploma with a letter of protest. Unbelievable.

Where is the cash coming from? For starters, LU has turned into a degree mill by virtue of its online curriculum. You got the cash, you can rub elbows with Jesus and take a college class.
