Oh joy. half the stadium looking at their phones during the game instead of watching the game. That should make for a lively atmosphere.

I feel that's an over reaction. If you are at the game most will be watching. Also I know at FAU the service in the stadium is awful sometimes, so it will not matter.
This is great for the fact lets say you have random casual fan student and they have no idea how to watch an away game and even if they did they certainty do not have the game if they are a cord cutter or have really basic cable.
Now the game will just appear in their twitter feed because of the school or a couple of their friends RT it. They can watch it on a lap top in the dorm or apt without any fuss.
I don't how the viewer will be counted because like TV they can hook up one persons feed and 7 people can watch or and entire bar for that matter.
I also wonder how the revenue from this works. I guessing their will be ads during the game does that get split? What about hashtag sponsors? #Shulabowl2017 brought to you by #Southfloridaford.

Revenue will basically be generated on each programs adjusted worth. We will have rock solid numbers based on views instead of nielson ratings which can more accurately predict what each program is generating for the conference. Advertisers will digest that carefully and spend their dollars on what they see as the best investment. The other killer thing about that is say you got a stadium full of 25K fans. The announcer could simply mention to folks that the game is on Twitter and please log on to add to their experience! Viola!! Double Dipping and adding to your fan experience with broadcasting and replays in the palm of your hand!!
And it could actually help the tailgate crowd too. The ability to plug your phone into a TV to pick up extra games instead of paying through the nose on Direct or Dish for your Tailgate.
Now we just need someone to invent a battery that lasts longer then 3 hours so we can watch these games easier on our phone instead of having to rely on constantly charging phone because video takes a lot of your battery life away...

Only if your stadium has enhanced wifi capabilities and you have a good data plan...WKU's stadium sucks for phones, I cannot do anything on my phone while at the game.....

Just grab yourself a portable battery bank. They're generally fairly cheap, depending on what quality you want (~$20-$50) and they'll help keep your phone charged for the whole day.

Yep, or a case with an integrated battery. You can triple your battery life with one of those.

It effects your live stream feeds also. For some reason yours and marshalls always have problems.

I believe that making the broadcast more portable is better than having half your fanbase anchored in the living room.

I am an ATT customer and I used to carry a Verizon mifi with me so I could use my phone at games. A couple years ago ATT started setting up a temporary tower for home games in just outside on the NE corner of the stadium and all of a sudden I had phone and data access the whole game. It's an easy fix, they do the same thing at UArk.

Neither is expensive at least compared to the cost of the phone and integrated is a LOT less hassle.

Quote:C-USA is undergoing a new round of negotiations for 2018, trying to recover from the collapse of rights fees in 2016. I’m hearing Sinclair wants out, which puts the whole ASN/Stadium thing in doubt, and beIN Sports wants out.
The league could land a game or two more from the ESPN empire, and all the ESPN3 games it can stand (with most of it university-produced, by the way). Expect CBS Sports to stick around; will another partner pop up?

I've heard people say the guy who said this isn't very trustworthy. I know nothing about him, just relaying what others have stated.

He may be a good journalist but he wrote his article with misinformation. Now he has tweeted that BEIN contacted him and said they do want to continue with C-USA. I tweeted ASN to see if they might also make a comment on his article. Trusting sources is fine but following up with the players involved before writing that article would have made him a better journalist imho.

I know some don't care about the beIN coverage, but I thought they did a very professional job (they have a lot of sports commentary experience, just not football) and I get the channel on cable, so I value it.
I just emailed the following to several email addresses I found on the beIN site:
"I saw an article recently that said beIN Sports wasn't interested in renewing with C-USA and then a retraction that said beIN had contacted the journalist and corrected him, saying beIN hoped to continue showing C-USA games.
I'm contacting you today to say that I was very glad to get this corrected news! I was very impressed with the production values beIN bought to the table for C-USA last year and, being a Southern Miss fan living 8 hours away from Hattiesburg in middle Tennessee, I greatly appreciate getting to catch not only my own school's games, but also other teams in C-USA. When we are on ESPN we are often treated like background noise while the commentators discuss Power 5 match-ups and ASN doesn't come to nearly beIN's production values. beIN discusses the game currently on, the players currently playing and the upcoming games for those teams/players. I appreciate that beIN treats the game currently on their station as the most important thing their commentators could discuss.
I appreciate all our TV opportunities, but I'd rather watch beIN for my C-USA (and especially Southern Miss) games!"
