It is mutilation..but..I agree with you on this.

Yep. Also an uncircumcised one looks like a pain in the arse to deal with tbh.

As someone who is not circumcised, I can honestly tell you that I havent had any of those problems. I showered in the locker room just like any other football player and the same in the Marines. No one ever came up to me and asked me what was wrong with my dick.

Yeah, at first girls are actually more interested than disgusted, probably because they have never been with someone who was never circumcised, but after you lay down the wood, my dick not being circumcised was the least of their worries.

Same here man. Never got bullied for it in the locker rooms or anything. I do remember being a little self conscious about not being circumcised when I realized I was the odd man out, but that feeling went away after a while. One girl did say it looked weird when we first got naked together, but it didn't stop her from having sex with me. And frankly, don't all dicks look weird anyway?

And as for the hygiene issue, I've never had a problem. All it takes is a few seconds time in the shower and you're good to go.

In retrospect, I'm glad my parents chose not to circumcise me and I think I'd make the same decision if and when I have kids. I get that the baby won't remember the procedure, but it still seems like a whole heck of a lot of pain to inflict on a baby right after they're born.

This is a good place to start, fair question.

Quote:In one discussion I read about it, a mother gave her reasonings, she said that she didn't want to have to deal with the regular cleaning within the foreskin as to prevent infection because she felt it would be far too personal for her to do that to her boy. Reasoning that I find ridiculous

I've got four girls, there is point at which washing their genitalia at bath time becomes awkward... That point is long before the kid can be trusted to keep themselves clean.

Quote:Obviously circumcision started more as a religious practice than a health practice in Jewish, Muslim, and Christian culture

Circumcision has a history going back 15,000 years, long before it was a practice of the Jews. One of the early epicenters was in an area that is now part of Sudan and Ethiopia.

It is also practiced by the circumcision is practiced by the Australian Aborigines and Polynesians. Finally there is deviance that some of the great cultures of pre colonial north america performed the procedure.

Quote:(though at the time, due to lack of scientific advancement and healthcare, was actually necessary and probably did prevent many unnecessary deaths) and was seen, much like FGM, as a way to control sexual urge (lust) and later as a form to make boys less interested in masterbating as suggested by Mr. Cornflakes I mean Kellogg himself.

Ummm no.... Unlike FGM there are tangible benefits to circumcision, this is especially true in ancient and prehistorical societies where saying clean is a bit more difficult than the modern era.

A clitorectemy has zero demonstrable medical benefit.

Quote:is circumcision genital mutilation and should it be left to the individual to decide on later in life based on his religious or personal belief or is circumcision okay to perform on baby boys as is the cultural norm and as the decision (legally) of the mother?

I don't think it's mutilation, certainly not in the same league with FGM.

Are you kidding?

I guess you have never read the Bible.

Have you?

Peter pushed circumcision among the gentiles in the early church, Paul rebuked him, peter relented. Which is funny because Paul, among all the apostles, was perhaps the biggest stickler for the letter of the law before being saved.

New Testament Christians are no longer under the Old Testament Ceremonial or Dietary Law, and circumcision is no longer required. Acts 15; Galatians 2:1–3; 5:1–11; 6:11–16; 1 Corinthians 7:17–20; Colossians 2:8–12; and Philippians 3:1–3.

For the same reason I can eat bacon I don't have to be cut.

I've had a few adults regret it. If you're circed as a child then you don't know any difference.

When a guy has a boner the foreskin retracts anyway so they don't look all that different. I've never been bullied. My wife asked me about it at first because she'd never seen one, but got over it real quickly.

Cleaning literally takes 3 seconds to do. You're taught from a young age to just skin it back and wash it like every other body part.

Neither of my sons were cut. Wasn't even an option. I have a friend whose triplet boys were born in Germany and she said that circumcision wasn't allowed there without a medical reason.

Yep. In all my time playing sports and then in the Army I've never heard anyone in the locker room say anything about another guy's uncircumcised dick. Honestly, it would be a pretty damn weird thing to do.

I got one, my son got one, and if the fetus currently in the wife's womb is a boy, he'll be getting one. That's our choice. If you go another route, that's your choice. Simple as that.

Your point might have been relative if someone had stated there was no such thing as circumcision in the OT.

Christianity begins with the NT.
