RE: 2017 MLB Season Thread
what was it- 2 weeks ago I said the same thing about Zimmerman. The thing that is remarkable with Zimmerman- his platoon numbers are amazing. He's as amazing as he's done- had only 15/101 pa's vs lefties going into tonight. Counting tonight's 1-2, he's batting 8-15 vs lefties. So as good as he's been and as locked in as he's been- he could have been even better.

Dodgers making Samardzija look like Cy Young. He's faced the minimum through 3.

8 innings, 3 hits, 11 K, 0 BB. You prognosticate for crap. About like the Dodgers hit.

Alright, so I loved baseball growing up (oddly enough, the two sports I've always been least interested in are football and basketball), however I no longer want to watch baseball anymore, even if it is the Tigers. Has anyone had experience with something like this.

saw an interesting article on fan graphs on Matt Harvey. Another bad outing vs the Braves on Tuesday night. so far this year he's got a 5.14 ERA and a 5.79 FIP.

In it- they had a really interesting comp. Tim Lincecum. How when he lost his velocity he wasn't the same pitcher at all. Sure seems like it's pretty valid.

long way to go, but it's starting to look like that. And Lincecum didn't lose it in a day. He lost a little bit for like 5 straight seasons until he was down to like 87

true. but his speed drop is big....
2015 95.9
2016 94.5
2017 94.0

The problem that Harvey has vs Lincecum is that his drop is starting at a much higher velocity. Harvey 2015 at 95.9 vs Lincecum 2011 at 92.3. We saw how going from 92 to 89 and eventually 87 impacted Lincecum. It's even more pronounced I'd think going from 96 to 92-93.

RE: 2017 MLB Season Thread
I know 1 thing with Zimmerman. If he keeps on performing close to what he's done, he's going to make teams have to pitch a whole lot more than they want to with Bryce Harper. If Turner and Werth can get on base, things will get really tough for pitchers.

the other key guy right now for me with the Nats. Michael A Taylor. Right now since Eaton went down, he's batting 8-18 with a double and a triple. If he can hit just close to respectable, the Nats are going to be in good shape, and they could focus their attention on the closers spot if necessary.

the thing with Taylor is for as long as he's been with the Nats, he's still "only" 26 years old.

And the beauty with the Nats lineup- with how deep it is- if he can just be where he is right now- batting .250 with a .650 ops- so not good but not a black hole either- they'd be ok.

Happened to me with NFL, but it was triggered by the Rams leaving LA. Pretty much quit on the NFL right then. Always loved baseball.

big surprise for me right now is Joe Blanton. He's absolutely been awful so far this year. we ALL thought it was a great move- but man, he's been pure kerosene so far. 10.64 ERA and 9.50 FIP. 6th homer given up today. You think he'll bounce back- but he is 36.

I didn't expect that. In fact, I was thinking LA would have been better off signing him instead of Romo. That's now two examples of Dodgers getting a guy at the right time and letting him go at the right time. Unbelievable.

And last night they reported that Syndergaard can't throw at all for at least 6 weeks. What a mess.
