Coach Tubby Smith has spoken!

In today's press conference Tubby Smith said, "I know we'll be a very good team." As reported by Mark Giannotto.

According to some here we're going to have a terrible season because the players aren't any good. These posters are highly intelligent and say they don't need to see them play first.

Mark: Coach, how will the team perform next given the transfers of the multiple stared Lawson brothers, and the much improved Crawford?

Tubby: You know Mark, who the hell knows? We got a bunch of kids who aren't from Memphis, and they don't have many stars. So they probably can't play a lick, but we'll play the games anyway, because we have too.

Mark: Wow coach, that bad?

Tubby: Yes, maybe win 10 games If we are lucky. We just can't do well because we won't have players with the stars of the Lawson's.

Mark: What should the Memphis fans do to support the team?

Tubby: You know Mark, I doubt the fans will even want to show up to watch these guys stink up the place.

Mark: Is there no hope for the future?

Tubby: Not much, if we would have realized that really talented players made a difference, and that you could tell how talented a player was by their number of stars, well we would have recruited players with more stars.

Mark: Stars are that important?

Tubby: Apparently, Mark, who knew, I guess Pearl down at Auburn, since he's turned their program around so quickly.

Mark: Coach do you think any other coach knows about this star rating thing.

Tubby: Well yes Mark, coach Forbes at ETSU knows all about stars, we think he will win his first NCAA tournament game soon. Me and the rest of the coaching staff want to be the first to congratulate coach Forbes and his staff on their future win!

Mark: Coach anything else before we end the press conference?

Tubby: Me, my family and the coaching staff would like to thank the University of Memphis fan base for the patience they have shown in giving us more than 1 year to turn this program around.We realize that most any young and hungry coaching staff would have already had Memphis back in the tournament, especially coach Pearl.

Mark: Thanks coach.

Wow! That sounds almost word for word how the press conference went.

All this negativity is why I stopped posting here.

I Trust Tubby

Lots of folks on here have crystal balls. Not sure how accurate they are but.....they seem to think they are currently able to predict the future with a good amount of certainty.

It really is pathetic. What a side show of miserable people. To voice a concern about the direction of the program can have a positive effect, but the constant tearing down of everything related to the current staff is not helpful. Regardless of how some attempt to spin it.

Let the man do his job.......not the one where he supports his son.
Some of the staff has worked hard. They may only know how to recruit Tubby style players, but at least we have some big dudes and the potential is there.

At least we know these guys want to be here, and they want to play for Tubby, as well as our university.

I'm still taking a wait and see approach. If all these basketball geniuses predictions come true, then I'm sure the appropriate measures will be taken to rectify the situation. In the mean time, I'll continue to buy my season tix and hope for the best. GO TIGERS!

I'm in the same boat with you, but I realize that those that choose to take the wait and see attitude, especially since it's only been one season, tend to not say anything anyway. But those that have the, the sky is falling mentality are screaming it, and waving their arms, so they are noticed. Coach TS can't win with some here period, if he doesn't speak, he's criticized, but if he speaks, every word is either disputed, or just micro analyzed. But of course it's because we won't settle for mediocracy, heck, Cal would have been gone within 4 yrs, because we have expectations, get er done, and within 2 seasons.

A lot of it also has to do with the squeaky wheels wanted someone else hired. Many wanted Kennedy or Forbes so they can have access. So they go after Tubby because he's not their guy. Self interests.
