I for one hate to see a good hate relationship go to waist. I'm growing more jealous by the day of the love shared by so many. How do we get these fine folks to join the Belt? That's a lie. We NEVER begged the Belch for anything, and let's be honest here, your dumpster fire conference would have jumped all over a premier program like ours, one that would deliver over half of the state of Louisiana.

Before App joined the SBC I didn't know anything good or bad about LA Tech, funny how a delusional fanbase can shape one's opinion of a school.
And you still don't know anything about La Tech, other than what SBCers and exSBCers say. It seems from this thread that you folks want to decide Tech's future. Otherwise, you wouldn't bring a CUSA/SBC merger into conversation without listening to what members of CUSA, e.g., Tech thinks about it.

I like this option: You'd have 5 games inside your pod, at least 1 set rivalry with another pod (App/Southern...WKU/Middle Tenn...La Tech/Troy). 2 more conference games. 4 OOC. You could schedule like the ACC and play someone in-conference but out of pod and call it OOC. I like it.
I know for Ark St fans, being lumped in with the Texas schools sucks because they're so far away...which is why you take advantage of scheduling members from other pods both in and out of conference. Strike a deal with MTSU, UAB, So Miss and the Louisiana schools and you get pretty close to what you want.
If La Tech wants to go west they can go with the Texas schools...they're geographically interchangeable.
I'd like to see some minimal TV rights deal involved. Something that *at least* matches the $200k CUSA schools are already getting with regional TV distribution and online streaming. The new ASN merger would do nicely.

Kick out UTEP, JMU, F_Us and move Middle Tennessee State to the East and it looks like a fun league. Maybe switch stAte to the South and one of the LA schools to the West.
