But a JUCO player like him would be perfect. I'd still love Eddie Reese, if he's still available.

Eric Williams isn't getting the D-I love I expected. I expected more.

So do you think we're going to offer him?

As to the last LOI, IDK.
It could be Williams, a JUCO, a transfer, etc.
We supposedly have 'offers' out to a bunch of players with only one scholarship to give.
It could be: The first to say 'yes' gets it and the rest are out of the picture.

Ty Cockfield is another juco guard that we've offered and is still uncommitted.
I think Steve is right...first guy to say "yes" gets the spot, regardless of position.

The only thing I'd add is that the later the 'offer' the more likely to making a deal.
E.g., Bernard was offered this week so I assume that the offer is timely. Someone who might have been offered a month or two months ago and hasn't visited is probably sitting on a 'stale' offer.
I assume that makes sense.
If someone was likely to accept our last LOI why would EMU had offered Bernard this week???? (I take that to mean that the older offers are not likely to pan out).
OR LOOK AT THIS WAY (looking at Verbalcommits.com).
We have offered both Jermaine Jackson jr. and Ellison at PG. Ellison is the one. Scratch Jackson.
We have offered three SG, Cockfield, Reese and Bernard. The first who says 'yes' is it. I believe they are all SG, although Bernard may also be a SF.

Not much new. We are still listed as possible for Jermaine Jackson Jr. but I assume that is a near 0% chance.
I'm surprised that we are not in on Jack Ballantyne. We could use a PF who can shoot from the outside (to back up Minnie).

Copying this post from the MBB off season thread:

18 ppg on nearly 65% shooting from the field and 77% at the line. Not to mention an insane 4 blocks a game. I'm fine with that as our last schollie.

I'm assuming LWH is coming back. No reason to doubt anyone else is leaving, would be my guess...
That said, Green is a PF / C but could be considered a replacement for Madray.

The more I think about it, the more I wouldn't be surprised if there is more attrition. Just seems like we are going to have way too many forwards again. A front court of Thompson, Minnie, Nobles, Harris, Steele, Groce, Epps, LWH, and now Green, is quite a surplus. It's a bit nerve-wracking that only Jackson, Bond, Silver, and Ellison could be considered guards.
I know Murphy LOVES having size and athleticism, and we are going to have plenty of that, but can we survive we 4 guards? Two of whom are freshmen?

From the small amount of film I've seen of our newcomers I would classify Groce, Epps, Harris, and Silver as "wings". Bond as well, though he has shown the ability to run point along with Jackson and Ellison.
True frontcourt players would be Steele, Thompson, LWH, and Green. Nobles and Minnie you could say are frontcourt with some wing abilities.

The big question to me is LWH.
He was at the end of the bench and 'out of it.'
I believe he has a lot more ability than he showed this year. I don't know if he was having personal difficulties or something else but he just didn't seem to be the player that he could be.
I don't believe he was a player who was 'over-matched' playing D-I ball.
Without know what was going on, I'd have no idea if he'll be back.
One guess is that getting Green might be a sign that LWH won't be back.
EDIT: A little math. With Green we should be at 13 scholarships so if a new player commits that could be a signal that someone isn't returning...

RE: 2016/17/18 Men's Basketball Recruiting
One thing to remember about players is that they have a very difficult role, both student and athlete. That is a lot to handle under the best of circumstances.
One never knows if a player is having a health issue, or health issue(s) with parent(s), or academic issues, or issues in personal relationships or financial or emotional or anything else one can think. Think of the stories where a player is worried about his mother who is sick and might get evicted from her house. I believe during the Great Recession 5M homes were foreclosed on. How could a player study and play ball worried what might happen to his mother or parents during times like then???
I, for one, am surprised that most D-I basketball players play as well as they do considering all of the things which could go wrong in their lives.
At times, I'm almost shocked at the number of parents of students who die while their son or daughter is in college.
This is why I would never write a player off after one bad season. Sometimes people have very trying years.
This is a general comment and not directed at any specific athlete, but it could apply to any college athlete.

RE: 2016/17/18 Men's Basketball Recruiting
FWIW, we can officially (99%, to be more exact) scratch Jermaine Jackson, Jr. as a recruiting target (I borrowed this from a UDM forum):
"JJ Jr.'s official visits:
Duquesne 4/8
Detroit 4/13
Colorado 4/16
Oakland - TBD
Already visited - Toledo"
