I find it amazing that the guy who led the league in both points and assists somehow was middle of the pack at his position.

ODU has no PG, no shooters. Congrats on beating Marshall this year when 3/4 our team had the flu and Browning's back locked up and couldn't play. Maybe Jeff Jones needs to go find some more defenders, its proven he has no clue how to recruit scorers. He tries to drag you down to his mediocre coaching level and beat you in the most ugly game you can have. I absolutely hate watching Marshall have to play ODU.
So the CUSA leader in points (19.9) and asst (5.8) is only the 5th best player at his position. The 1st player to finish the season leading in both points and asst in CUSA to do that since 2003. Whatever dude. I guess everyone on ODWho is better than Jon and even Stevie Browning or Austin Loop. What a hack or Troll you are. No wonder VCWho hates everything ODWho, your self worth as a university is inflated by about x100.

I'm not a professional, HerdZoned, but I'm thinking it might just be time for your lithium dosage.
Fear not. Gilesfan is the exception among our fan base. The rest of us have little doubt that you guys will still be the unquestioned powerhouse of the conference after J.E. gets drafted in the first round.
After all, you still have Ott.

Elmore could play for any team in the nation in college and start. He is a hell of a gifted basketball player.
I don't think his game will translate to the nba, but as a college player, he is an elite player at his position

RE: Marshall's Jon Elmore declares for NBA Draft
People really love high usage guys that are inefficient and don't play defense? Obviously the 5th best is an exaggeration, but here is a comparison of the top point guards in conference. Elmore really doesn't stand out and his defense is only better than Davis.
Per 100 possessions, Elmore averaged 9-21 for 29 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. (and had a defense rating of 110) Winshare/40 of .135
Per 100 possessions, Bracey averaged 7-16 for 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 12 assists. Had a defensive rating of 99.3 Winshare/40 of .154
Per 100 possessions, Artis averaged 9-20 or 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. Had a defensive rating of 97 and WS/40 of .124
Per 100 possessions, Caver averaged 7-21 for 23 points, 6 rebounds, and 9 assists. Had defensive rating of 98 and WS/40 of .127
Per 100 possessions, Evans averaged 10-23 for 32 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. had a defensive rating of 104 and a WS/40 of .147
Per 100 possessions, Davis averaged 10-21 for 30 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists. had a defensive rating of 111 and a Ws/40 of .125
Per 100 possessions, Norton(2015) averaged 6-14 for 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 11 assists. had a defensive rating of 101 and WS/40 of .160

Using 100 possession is a bull**** stat in college basketball because it benefits the players that play at a slower pace. If player A plays in a slow down system with 50 possession a game it does not mean his average will carry over for 75 or 100 possessions. Playing a half court set it up style means more sets will be ran through the pg. But open the floor and up the possessions and usually stats start to fall. So even if Marshall played at a faster pace a lot of sets never get ran through the pg.
Jon Elmore
#1 in ppg
#1 in asst
#1 ft attempts
#18 in defensive rebs (#2 in pg play..Artis #1
#4 in ft % (#1 in pg)
#10 in steals (#3 in pg play Artis, Dixon 1 & 2)
#15 in Player Efficiency Rating (#2 in pg...Davis 1
I will take on the court results over what might be and using a predictor (100 possessions) type stat is just that...a guess
If you have to go to something other than results on the floor...
you lose

This projects the 2018 Draft, so Next Year Jon would be drafted in the bottom half of the 2nd round. Players taken in the 2nd round of the draft have a 50/50 chance of making a roster when final cuts are made. So it looks like he'd be wise to stay at Marshall one more year.

I believe only Evans and Davis had higher usage.....high usage and a lot of possessions means he had the ball a ton
per 100 possessions is what happened on the court, its not predictive. you are right that its possible amlower usage guy may not maintain it over more, its also right that more possessions means his numbers are going to look better than teams at a slower pace.m That is why per 100 equalizes it.
So number 15 PER (predictive stat) means he should be drafted this year?

There's not a PG in this conference that I would take over Elmore, Jon Davis would be very close....
leading the conference in fts shows he's much more than just a shooter and it also shows he's quicker than some people are giving him credit for

Robinson more then likely a one and done....Of course writers on Twitter are going to crazy saying he will score 50 and 30 in CUSA....Really wish we can get our brand better and improve overall as a conference so we don't have to read comment like that from these national know all writers and talking heads...

He is not an NBA player. He will get paid to play somewhere but I highly doubt it will be in the NBA. Two former UTEP players I would take over him are Randy Culpepper and Julian Stone and neither were able to "make it" in the NBA. Stone played in parts of 3/4 seasons, which would be the best that Elmore could hope for regardless of when he leaves Marshall

Would be careful with the "he is not an NBA player"...Some players games translate different from college to the pros and or scouts might see a player that fits into their system..Few years back we had a player Jeremy Evans who was a solid player for us, averaged about 10 pts a game for his career, blocked shots, rebounded but never thought he was all world although he showed a lot of "potential".....He was drafted in 2nd round by Utah and most WKU fans were shocked he was even drafted, he was in the league until this past season and also won the Slam Dunk Competition twice...So you never know...
