He has some things the NBA likes. Didn't he have the biggest hands at the combine last year? And rebounding is one of the stats that traditionally transfers well. Analytics guys will like the PER.

I think he goes and doesn't get drafted. Signs for the summer league, where his performance determines whether he gets a D-League spot next fall.

Like the young kids cause they are going to guess on potential and 17 of Top 20 will play less than 12-15mpg.

Yep. Being a Grizz fan, I've always liked this cause it pushes upperclassmen down the draft to where we usually are. Of course, you then have to draft Rodney Hood and Draymond Green when you have the chance.

Who would want to draft a bunch of guys that got blown out, gave up, smiling about losing by 40 points on the bench? Who wants to draft any of these guys that didn't play no defense, didn't care about any tournaments at all. Let sorry teams beat them up for 40 minutes.

I'm just surprised at his extreme negativity, which isn't like him, certainly, about Tubby Smith. At least this early in the game.

I was simply questioning the statement as to how Dedric's decision is hurting Tubby's recruiting.

I factually noted he's not in on some blue chipper who might not come if Dedric is on the roster. I also factually noted he's recently offered a JUCO who is the 2nd guy off the bench.

I never noted them as negatives, just laid out two factual sentences. If you see them as "negative " that's not on me.

Dude, you are the guy that was all up in Pastner's jock at least through year six and now have stuck enough knives in his back to make Caesar feel underappreciated.

Your the worst kind of fan. I might not be a koolaid drinker, but I'm not going to viciously turn on a guy like you and others did.

I suppose one day, after Tubby gets your adulations, he'll get your wrath, too.

Dedric is not really that young for his class. He'll be 20 on Oct. 1st, turned 18 on October 1st of his Freshman year. My guess is 75% of the 1st round picks in the draft this year will be younger than Dedric.

For those who had kids play club sports, September/October birthdays were always the tweener ages. Kid was either "old" for one classification or "young" for the other.

Dedric is about as young as you can get as a sophomore. If you're talking about this draft...Last year 11 first rounders were younger than Dedric will be this year, and 4 second rounders. That's 25% of all picks.

Dedric lacks the athleticism to be a lock. But he is definitely still one of the young prospects.

I don't understand your point. You say "If you're talking about this draft . . . Last year . . ." Makes no sense.

Only makes sense to compare Dedric's age to other players in his grade. In last year's draft, for instance, Dragan Bender and Marquese Chriss, who went 4 & 8, are both younger than Dedric. Georges Papagianis (13) and Furkan Korkmaz (26) are also younger.

Point is he's not that young for his class. People act like he's a full year younger than other Sophomores, which is not true. Basically, he was 19 almost all of his Sophomore year, which is the normal age for that grade.

My comments are directed towards you saying Dedric is not young for his class. It was unclear whether you meant his graduating class, or this year's draft class. With your latest comments it appears you are talking about his graduating class. In that case, he is absolutely one of the youngest sophomores in the NCAA. I doubt you can find a single sophomore on any draft board younger than him - certainly not the 75% that you guessed.

If by chance you are still talking draft class, then I simply took last year's because we don't yet know this years. If the same age ranges from last year were to apply to this year, then only 25% of draftees would be younger than Dedric. Again - a far cry from the 75% that you suggested.

He is a full year younger than many sophomores. The trend these days is to hold kids back a year - and many athletes have done this. Dedric has an 10/1 birthday and 10/31 is the cutoff. So the only sophomores younger than him are those born between 10/2 and 10/31, or those who skipped a grade (usually) for academic reasons.

87, again, I think you are missing the point.

Put it this way, if Dedric had not graduated early, he would be 19 and 1/2 years old right now as a Freshman. That would be very, very old for a Freshman.

So, by definition, Dedric is not that old for a Sophomore. Kind of a tweener, age wise. Certainly not an average of a full year younger than other Sophomores, like you imply.

I am confused...

If he was a freshmen he would have graduated with his HS class, he wasn't held back a year and he started school on time. How is he VERY old.

Your "If . . ." question is very confusing, has 4 different statements starting with "he". Can you re-phrase?

I never said he was very old. If Dedric was a Freshman this year, not a Soph., he would be 19 and 1/2. That is very old for any 1st year Freshman. Do you disagree?

Not sure why people are so invested in this myth that Dedric is so young. I guess because they want him to return next year.

Dude. I'm not invested in anything. I don't think he's returning. I don't think his age will matter much to the NBA. Would have helped him had he been able to declare right out of HS. But not now.

But he's young for a sophomore. See how many sophomore legit players you can find younger than him. You won't find many - if any. If you're 19 your entire sophomore year, you're absolutely younger than the vast majority of your class.

If the demographics of this draft break out similar to last year, 75% of guys drafted will be older than him. It's very simple.

If he hadn't skipped his senior year of HS, yes he would be on the older end of the spectrum as a Freshman this year. But we're not talking that scenario.
