I'm sorta tired of the Rice way. It's business. And if the contract is not fulfilled I'll bet there's a buyout clause. If VCU was paying there last HC a million plus they can afford the buyout. Use it to finance our next MBB HC.

I'm pretty sure he had a five-year deal when we first hired him...not sure if he was extended when VCU came calling in 2015.

Important thing now is to not have guys transfer.

Need to move quick on getting a new guy. Hope JK anticipated this possibility.

Seems like he was on the launching pad all along.
He was a great hire. And probably the HC we needed 3 years ago and he deserves a huge amount of credit for our program's resuscitation.
Hopefully we can do some damage control with our existing players. And we can move up a notch with a new hire.

Players at almost any level see coaches come and go, and while they may have not known for sure, they definitely could put two and two together once it broke that vcu coach was headed for LSU.

That is way different than them KNOWING.

That's them assuming that Rhoades would be out the door because of the opening. The way you saying they "knew" implies that they were informed by Rhoades or someone else.

I agree that they likely assumed he was gone, but assumptions can be wrong.
