Anyone overlooking you guys this season is going to get bit in the,ass......

Doesn't look like a trap to me, but it happens. We had plenty of opportunities to score. Ultimately just one game, we've got a lot more left.

The App left fielder admitted after the game that he trapped it. The camera angle doesn't tell the whole story. The glove opening is facing the ground and the only person in the building that could see if it was a catch was the 4th umpire in centerfield sprinting to the location of the dive. He had a perfect view of it and he was very adamant that it was a trap. You don't make that kind of call unless you have conviction. And the LF's admittance after the game proves him right.

Ask your head coach and players....they said as much after the game. The 2nd base umpire made a good effort by running out to get closer to the play. When the Left fielder hit the ground his glove was face down on the ground with the ball under it. He knows that he didn't catch the ball......great game guys.

Source for this confession?

RE: Sun Belt Baseball: Conference Games for 3-17 to 3-19
I'm going to give that umpiring crew some credit on that play. The second base umpire immediately went to the outfield and had the best angle of anyone to make the call. The other umpires rotated perfectly. The third base umpire was ready to make a call at second, the home plate umpire was right there at third in case of an overthrow and the first base umpire, after making sure first base was tagged, rotated home just in case.

We can, and do, complain about umpires. But that was perfect mechanics. If the Sun Belt didn't have a four man crew, the umpire wouldn't have been in position to make the call. THAT'S why you use four umpires if you're a real league.

I'm amazed at how much better App has gotten. There's not a lot of pitching depth, it seems, but the guys we saw were solid. App doesn't hit for a high average but their guys swing hard and have good power. Defense was rock solid all weekend. You can tell from the body language it's a different culture. Props to coach Smith and his staff. They're doing it the right way. And, that will make everyone better.

If you can pitch and play defense, you have a chance to win every night. Underestimate the Mountaineers at your own peril.

To any of you who made the trip from Boone, we hope you'll come back. Pardon our progress on the stadium. Paid attendance for the weekend was 14,857.

We hope fans from South Alabama, Arkansas State, Georgia Southern and Texas State will make the trip to Lafayette. There are inconveniences because of construction, but once you get in the stadium, you'll enjoy yourselves.

The LF admitted it after the game to a fan? Strange. I'd love to hear this one.

Congrats of the weekend ULL, great team.

thanks for props, and your absolutely right about the new attitude the coaching staff has brought to the program, for the first time in years, the team seems to be having fun again and looking forward to playing games. Bottom iine is, this year, we aren't going to win many series against the top tier of the SBC, but atleast now, they will have to take us seriously.
