To use the term 'homosexual' to describe a Gay marriage is wrong, and is sometimes done deliberately by anti-Gays to deny the existence of a Gay community.
But....
Homosexual and Heterosexual are clinical terms used to describe sexual acts or orientation. I personally use both.
----
It is offputting to call a Gay person homosexual unless that person rejects being Gay. Or rejects membership in the Gay community via his/her actions and associations.
So let me see if I've got this **** from you "straight". You are told homosexual is now offensive. You are going to continue using it anyway. You say tranny is offensive and go into a tizzy fit every time one of us type TRANNY.
About right?
Homosexual marriage? I always hear gay marriage. Who denies the existence of a gay community?

The religious right for decades refused to use the word Gay. American Family Radio actually had an auto correct on their news feed to ensure that the word Gay was never uttered on their site. Until they posted a story about Tyson Homosexual (he name is Tyson Gay - and he is straight) winning a medal in the Olympics.
I actually use the term homosexual in context and can defend using it. When you use a pejorative, you are clueless as to how it is used, or even worse, you KNOW it is offensive, but continue to use it.
Furthermore the word you use is almost always taken as an insult, and is used as such, by everyone outside that community.

In effect what you are saying is that you being a member of the protected group can decide what is offensive. Further, if another member of that group has a different opinion as to what words are offensive, then their choices must also be respected.
Bottom line, straights can't say or write any term that refers to this group in the event that one of its members deems it as offensive.

Kinda like blacks calling each other *******. It is fine for them...but no one else.
Quote:Emerson College now considers the term “homosexual” to be an offensive reference to gay or lesbian people, deeming only the latter two terms sufficiently inclusive.
According to a series of “Guidelines for Inclusive Language” published on the Boston school’s website, students should “avoid the use of homosexual and homosexual relationship” and rather “use gay or lesbian when describing people who are attracted to members of the same sex.”
The reference goes on to suggest dozens of other inclusive alternatives to popular terms, such as using “artificial” in place of “manmade” and “workforce” instead of “manpower.”
An entire section of the guide spells out the best linguistic practices for discussing the disabled, noting that “when referring to people with disabilities,” students should “emphasize the person first and then the disability,” such that the phrase “person with a disability” is used in place of “disabled person” or “handicapped person.”
The guide later vaguely proscribes the use of “words with negative connotations, such as stricken or victim,” adding that the term “reported” should be used when discussing cases of sexual assault instead of “accused, claimed, and alleged,” because the latter three “convey bias and disbelief.”

Didn't want to start a new thread, but look at this nugget:
College student op-ed: Yes, milk is racist
Quote:In an op-ed featured in the California State University-Long Beach student paper Daily 49er, Samantha Diaz follows up on stories about the silly usurpation of milk by white supremacists by arguing that yes, the dairy beverage really is racist.
All of us have been “so accustomed to hearing the benefits of milk,” Diaz writes, “that you probably didn’t even realize the subtle racism hidden in our health facts.”
But … aren’t our dietary guidelines science? And aren’t progressives all about science, especially in this Age of Trump?
Apparently not when “there is a deep-rooted [American] tradition to suppress an entire race’s existence,” Diaz says.
Federal guidelines which state Americans should drink three cups of milk per day do not take into account the “potential detriment it has on non-white people’s health.”
“Osteoporosis,” you see, “affects Africans at a significantly lower rate than it does most Americans,” she writes.

There's a big difference between calling yourself something and someone else calling you it.
And a friend (of which many of you are NOT to the LGBT community) saying something playfully in jest, and an outsider who bears ill will doing it.

Well for starters, you misgendered him (assuming he is a M to F transgendered person), by demeaning his gender.
Then you used a known insult.
Obviously trolling and patently insulting. Hope that helps!
