Just to clarify. I think the Vegas tourney covered travel expenses and the CBI only costs if you have a home game. That's why our ladies played on the road ubtil the championship game one year. Btw I went to the game and had a great time.
As stated above I don't know we would be invited to either one. I doubt it unless we win out and lose in the championship game. They maybe and it's a weak maybe.
Even if we had to pay I think it would be worth it for getting not only the team but especially the coaching staff more experience.
The power teams are taking over the nit as well so we will are already relegated to at large bids in these things anyway. We don't need to be snobbish about it IMHO
Because the P5 is taking over the NIT and NCAA is why we need to stay consistent and not play their game. These Micky mouse tournaments were created to throw bone to the team's they are throwing away. Tell them to shove their bone.
If, we don't win the Conference Tournament and make the dance, I think time could be best spent on recruiting and upgrades. Last year did no good in getting shipped out west to face a team we were not ready for. Those guys play a different game which currently we are not equipped for. Know if that game was played at Home we would of had a different chance your talking a two day travel which in itself drains you and then to play the game with respect is noble. Given more time, we would of could of played with them (BYU). Maybe, they just beat like the number 1 team. So, I would say stay home, don't get abused for the sake of a game played. When we get a fair shot then play the tournaments. Otherwise stay home and rebuild.

If invited, we should go. Rob and the other coaches need the big game experience. The Players need to see a chance at a trophy.
The players have had multiple opportunities this season to get a trophy. They have another coming up in a week or so. If they're 0-3 at trophies at that point, I don't think they deserve to get another.

Well, it might help with recruiting if we just give the 40k to one recruit in a brown paper bag :)
We could even hold a contest to see who gets to be the bagman!

RE: CBI / Vegas Tourney
It a be enough to start a player lounge with fruits and Veggies where they can study and eat. It a be enough to work the lower concourse with plush lockers, It a be enough to start an investment with offices, It a be enough to re do the green and gold room, It a be enough to get a start on new and fresh paint. It a be enough to redesign the lower concourse of the arena. It a be enough to show an investor theirs backing.(It a be enough for private investors to invest into a public institution) Is their a return.
See my point is that all things should be equal with all those bright lights with the football and the new facilities, basketball is going to have to happen with the same equal facilities for basketball that is my point, Football has just out done the basketball facilities but see we, they did it with out any support from the actual University itself, know what are they going to do for Basketball and Baseball. So Thank you, from the Football Family can you keep it going for say 20 to 30 years. So yes what, the direction is where has the investment come from the actual School itself. Don't get me wrong, I observe the school, I attended for the time, I was their, but I had to Graduate from a different School and I spend more time with UAB then I do my own School. The only investment that, I have seen from UAB is that they got a Yes from the Board. The UA Board. Which is great right! Although, (We should be thought as their little brother with their protection) from what, I have read they would just assume to do a way with us and shovel everything their way.

That's not really hate. If we were Rice or UTSA that'd be one thing, but we're not. We are the defending CUSA champs and we were favored to repeat. At worst, it should have been NIT or nothing.

RE: CBI / Vegas Tourney
You Know, I have done my research on most other Schools that use sports boards and from what, I gather this is one of the most popular boards any where to be found. Have Checked Cnsbbs and other Schools and Rivals, Their is little to no daily activity on any other boards. Have checked the Southern, SEC Schools. The C-USA, Western Schools and Northern Schools. So, I would assume UAB Has major support that should return the investment (support it needs to go Into the Future as a respected player in the sports scene). And investments into the City of Birmingham itself. Bringing it to a city that can compete with major cities across the Country, Something Tuscaloosa needs us to be and they can't other then one thing and that's Football - since UAB is the Largest employer in the State.

We recently built out a new players lounge and a new men's basketball locker room... It's been a couple of years, but I still consider it new. because I'm still making payments for one of those "plush" lockers...

RE: CBI / CIT / Vegas 16 Tourney
Here are a few interesting updates.
- The Vegas 16 tourney is not being played this year.
- Samford has accepted an invitation to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT) and will host a first round game.

I wonder if UAB would accept an invitation to the CBI or CIT if offered?

Every college basketball game involves paying money to play. UAB pays arena staff and others including referees at every home game. Do you suggest UAB should drop basketball entirely? This topic gets same responses over and over.

Wouldn't mind accepting a CIT bid if we could face Samford.

Let's not end the year losing to Samford. Because we would lose that game.
