Charlotte wouldn't be bad but they probably couldn't have it downtown with all that the arena has committed to during the months of February and March. It would have to be held at Bojangles Coliseum, which is a short cab/uber ride away from downtown.

$ec men's tourney is in Nashville until 2025 with the exception of 2018 and 2022. $ec women are in Nashville in 2018, but I don't think the dates would conflict, but not sure the Predators' are willing to be gone on the road two weeks in a row...

Charlotte might be a great location for the CUSA tournament now. The ACC has blackballed the state of North Carolina from hosting the ACC tourney due to the ACC's politically correct stance on the state's controversial "bathroom bill" and how it affects transgendered weirdo's. So theoretically at least, CUSA would have the entire state of North Carolina to itself to host the conference BB tournament.
This may be a GREAT time to seize the opportunity.

Average attendance for the 2016 season from ncaa.org...
UTEP - 7,385
ODU - 7,037
Marshall - 5,473
MTSU - 5,183
UAB - 4,945
Charlotte - 4,667
LA Tech - 3,855
WKU - 3,671
USM - 2,993
Rice - 2,204
UNT - 1,979
FAU and FIU - 1,149
UTSA - 1,072
UAB shouldn't get to host it every year for no other reason than they just happen to be fortunate enough to be in the right location geographically. Just my opinion.
Put in a competitive bid.
I have no problem with UTEP hosting. Let's do it. Bring on Nashville too. I'm in.
RE: At Some Point C-USA Basketball Tournaments Need to Return to El Paso
Once the city gets it together and builds the new arena downtown El Paso will definitely host the conference tournament a few times. As for next season hopefully the city and UTEP put in a strong bid in which the conference has no other option but to award it to us. It's a nice set up having the Haskins Center and Memorial Gym right next to each other. Most times you can catch the men's and women's game by just walking across the street.

That wouldn't be bad, but it's just too short notice, especially if the final seeding comes down to the last week of the season. These things need to be planned months in advance because of other potential engagements that arenas may be used for, and finding personnel to work the tournament. People traveling from other parts of our conference also need enough time to arrange for plane tickets and hotel rooms.

If it weren't for the stupid $EC... Nashville would be great. You have two local schools in pretty close proximity to a 20,000 seat arena and a women's arena too (Municipal Auditorium for early-round games). I hope we at least try to have it next year, 2018, since SEC isn't going to be using it.

How about we just let the Texas schools form their own conference or go elsewhere (you guys brought this up, not me)? Texas schools will be for putting it at UTEP over UAB; probably everyone else would prefer it at UAB. UTEP has a much larger home court advantage than UAB would given that basically no other school would have fans show up in El Paso.
Just another item on the growing list of reasons why it makes no sense for all of us to be in the same conference.
Hey we'll join in on this!
Ok with me too. Problem is we would need 8 and only have 5 with Texas St. Add NMSU since their MBB is good and you have 6. Likely that most of the Louisiana schools and Ark St would prefer a more southeastern conference but if not then a new conference could be born!
RE: At Some Point C-USA Basketball Tournaments Need to Return to El Paso
I would love Nashville. No real home court advantage for anyone and a cool city to visit. Sorry El Paso and Birmingham - I'm sure both are cool places, but I'm spending the money to travel there.

UK hosts it, only fans who go are the thousands of UK fans who live in Nashville, Bowling Green and Franklin areas....
Seems like we have this thread every year and its the same arguments discussions as before...I would rather have tournament remain in Birmingham every year then have it thousands of miles away in El Paso where no one can get there minus UTEP fans.....El Paso is just not centralized at all.....
I think CUSA needs to have MTSU/WKU host it in Nashville, I think that would work with having men's tournament at Municipal Auditorium which is downtown and have the women's tournament either at WKU or MTSU campus....Only fair the east could be closer to the Basketball tournament since none of our eastern schools really have close locations for bowl games like the western teams do....

RE: At Some Point C-USA Basketball Tournaments Need to Return to El Paso
Can't remember which Florida school it was but their radio guy went on a Twitter rant last year or maybe 2 years ago about the tourney never being within a reasonable distance to them so we need to consider them too
