I did mean that between Knight and Whitman we have the best 40 minutes we've ever had in the post. Cully was certainly a class unto himself for blocking shots, and I can't speak to players from the 80s and before. Sheldon, Pete Stein, Kitts... all good post players in their own right, but these two guys are better than any of them.

I mean I feel comfortable saying it's the best I've ever seen in a Tribe uniform but that's just since '09. For once I actually enjoy our post game instead of using our big mens' names as substitute swear words. And it's even more nice because I totally didn't expect this kind of production.

I have been very impressed with Whitman this season. It's not that I didn't like him before, but I always equated Jack's signing with the loss of Rodney Williams and what might have been. Now I'm not so sure that I wouldn't rather have Jack over Rodney. Though I remember wanting both at the time.

I'll admit I was very worried about Jack being our starter at the 5 this season. I thought all the talk about him never being healthy during the off season was just an excuse. But I was so so wrong. He's shown massive improvement this season and has wildly surpassed my expectations.

Anyone who drives himself 7 hrs roundtrip to Towson, with the flu, to play bb is above reproach.

What a sensational performance today after the stinkeroo at Drexel. Home cooking at Kaplan does it.

Both Cohn and Tot did a great job at point guard...no turnovers from David!

I agree on Big Nate...this guy has so much talent it's scary. And he has great hands for a big man and the quickness to go with all his skills.

Put on a big show for everyone at the game and on national television.

Hi Tribe fans,

Today was the first time for this b'ball junkie to make it to Kaplan (I usually go to four or five it seems). And I was going to ask about him (Nathan Knight) specifically. If you ever watched Animal House, "Mongo impressed!". I would be interested in knowing how well recruited he was and who Coach Shaver beat out to obtain his signature.

Great atmosphere today! I had just about decided to try the SoCon tournament for the first time ever, but might now reconsider with Charleston. The CAA tournament in Richmond was my favorite weekend of the year but did understand the non-VCU fans complaining (VCU fans were all very nice to me, I want to note). The irony is ---- Richmond seems to me like it would now be the perfect centrally located neutral site.

Dude....Mongo was in "Blazing Sadles" not "Animal House" ....
Hopefully Nathan Knight will become a leader like Sheriff Bart was .
OOops. I can't believe I typed Animal House so thanks for correcting. I guess as I age, the ABCs (Animal House, Blazing Saddles, and Caddyshack) merged in the brain! 03-wink

And indeed, Knight can be a player like Sheriff Bart as he was "first man to ever whip Mongo!".

If you listen to Tony in the Towson post game, I believe it was Mal who we have to give credit for driving up. Jack was sick all morning, also.

Anybody that has taken the shots in the mouth like Jack has taken and still come back for more is above reproach.

Both Malinowski (whose parents came down to the 'Burg and drove him to Towson and Whitman really showed their mettle that whole week. Whitman actually threw up twice in the locker room while the Towson game was on.

And Dixon, who had an unreported (to the public) ankle injury, never practiced that week.

I agree with Billy mac. My history watching tribe hoops starts in 1987, and I don't recall a more complete post player than Cully in his senior year. Nathan Knight has all the tools, though...

Something tells me that Bill Chambers would have impressed us all, but I'm not sure there is anyone on these boards who was fortunate enough to see him in action.

I agree with the list but I think that Kenny Bowen should be included, He and Brant Weidner made an awesome duo when they played on the floor at the same time

Yes
Big Daddy Bowen could play. Weidner played four when Bowen was in there. Two 6'9" kids on the court at once and both could shoot.

I also remember the way that Mike Strayhorn played, especially his Freshman year, when he was named All American honorable mention. Unfortunately Bruce had to play him as a small forward and his skills were somewhat deminished

I'm loving this picture posted by the MBB feed. I wonder when in the game this was? I spy Jahir Williams behind the bench.

Love that pic as well! Maybe it was after the Dixon block and full court assist to Omar for the And-1 :)

Maybe one of you wrote this but there was a brief debate about the magnitude of WM's home court advantage:

Good idea, but everyone is looking at the wrong end of the court. Prewitt finished that play in front of the Tribe bench.
