RE: Trump is on the wrong side of civil asset forfeiture
I think President Trump is thinking like most people. Most people think if you are not convicted you get your property back. Most people don't think they could lose every penny in their pocket. Even the ATM card and the compete balance in that account. They think this because most people only think you lose those things if you are dealing dope.
But as I said earlier a bad hit by a drug sniffing dog and they can take it all. Yes even the money you have on your debit card. Then it's up to you to prove other wise. This happens more than most people think.
If your son sells his friend a joint and it's in your home....
you can lose it
If that dollar bill the cashier hands you back as change has been handle by someone else that transferred the oil (what ever) that tests for Pot. You can lose everything in your pocket, your car, your home. You don't even need to be charged with a crime. They can take your property and you still have to pay the bank for it.
The law needs changing. But as I said I doubt President Trump know anything about it..other than the government takes large sums of money and property from major dealers and mobs.
He really should get informed on the abuse of this law.

Philadelphia Couple’s Home Seized After Son Arrested For Marijuana
n 2012, Leon and Mary Adams had their property seized because their son, Leon Jr., had allegedly been selling marijuana from their front porch without their knowledge. Though Leon Jr. was indeed charged with a crime, he was alleged to have sold very small quantities—a “few $20 marijuana deals”—and the couple had nothing to do with the criminal activity. Leon Jr. had not yet been convicted of the criminal activity when the police asserted that they would be seizing the property that had been the home of Leon and Mary Adams since 1966.
According to the Philadelphia Police Department, Leon Jr. had sold $20 worth of marijuana to a police informant on multiple occasions. After the first sale, the informant went to the porch of the Adams home on two more occasions to again buy $20 worth of marijuana. With evidence in the form of marked bills and the ostensible testimony of the informant, Philadelphia Police used a SWAT team in riot gear to break down the door of the home and arrest Leon Jr. A month later, Leon and Mary Adams were informed that in addition to their son being in jail while awaiting trial, their home would also be seized under civil forfeiture laws.
He's been in favor of government taking property from private citizens and giving it to other private citizens to build parking lots for their casinos. So that's no surprise.

The state would have lost.
Now that doesn't mean they don't win sometimes through intimidation and the lack of knowledge of those they seize property from.

So what's the problem here exactly? This isn't
"just selling a joint". And you might buy the "they were unaware" but I don't. I know what goes on in my house and so does everyone else I know.

That is over the top, not knowing if it is real or fake news. But it should be allowed for things like white collar criminals who defrauded investors.

You think you know everything going on. I doubt if you do, especially if you have teens or older kids at home.
Here's a motel valued over 2 mil that was took because over the years there were 15 arrest for drugs at the motel. Not the owner or anyone working there but people renting rooms. Cost the owner $60,000 to get his property back

Well its not a final determination in that article, just a claim. But there are some pretty egregious abuses by police forces.
