Do We Have Bad Luck With Central Catholic Kids?
Green (Norwood) still not playing after cryptic statements from Candle about his work ethic. Lineman a few years ago who was injured, never played a down, but will get a free education. Warren, who commits early and attends many UT games, but bolts a week before signing because Fickel impressed his mother.

Are you referring to Ramon Miles? Is he at UT as a student? I wondered what happened to him.

Yes. I believe he had concussions in high school and then got one at UT which ended his career.

Wasn't there also a center with a similar injury problem--never played a down? Cameron?

Yes Cameron had the concussion problems. Don't know what happened to Miles.

Cameron's concussion allegedly happened during practice antics that Beckman put the linemen through. Ended his career without playing a down. There were lawsuits involved.

Miles has horrible knee problems, which ultimately ended his playing career. He didn't even know if he'd be able to play college football after his injuries in high school.

I can remember when City League Coaches and fans use to complain that UT didn't offer enough of their athletes.

I've always returned the comment as to why Toledo doesn't recruit and get more local kids, and the answer is always the kids has to pick Toledo also........

Blue surprisingly doesn't hold a UT offer yet. There's a pair of sophomores that started for the Irish this past season, ATH Jase Bowen & LB Justin Schiets. Both have the potential to play at the next level and I'd love to see Toledo offer them. However, Bowen may end up playing baseball as he already holds an offer from Michigan St.

Baseball scholarships are usually partials.

Men's DI Baseball is eligible to award 11.7 grants per year.

IF he were to receive a grant for football and also played baseball, how would that count towards the limit towards baseball?

At one time, there was a rule where you had to count a two-sport athlete in both sports. Not sure if that is still required or not?

Saline is a half hour up the road and gave D1 champ, Detroit Cass it's best game all season. They probably don't suck either. Those nice balanced teams can have some darn good players without shiney numbers.

Yes, Joe Palka. Toledo CC and EMU grad.

He's been head coach Summerfield, Toledo CC, and Whitmer. and spent some time at the college level.
