Mustafa Khaleefah is from Iraq, and is here as a refugee. If Michigan State plays a game outside the US in the next 4 years? He can't leave the country.

Say it with me....

90 days

Once more....

90 days

or is it 120 I forget which one has the 120 days But either way it's not 4 years or 3 years or 2 years or 1 year. The order is for 90 days or 120 at the most

But answer me this...how many FBS football games will be played out of the USA? I know of 1 bowl game but the Big10 has no connection to it.

Rice and Stanford are probably playing their season opener (in August) in Australia. I'm sure if I look hard enough, I will be able to find an international sporting event within the 90 day window. The World Baseball Classic is in March although I'm not sure if any citizens from the countries affected will be involved.

I also wonder if bans will be extended, and I believe that acts like this will hinder American business efforts. For example, Houston was just awarded the World Petroleum Congress for 2020. Hopefully it will still go on as planned here.

RE: Will Trump's executive order effect sports world?
We need a better system of vetting immigrants, and tracking them once they are here. It takes time to develop and implement any system. I would guess that ICE or some similar agency has a system pretty well outlined and designed, but it will still take some time.

So there's a transition period. How do we handle it? I think we went a bit overboard here. There were probably some less draconian interim measures that could have been implemented quickly while we got the system in place.

I'm not as concerned about this as I will be if we don't have something better in place in 90 days. But I think it could have been handled better.

I agree 100%. IMO, the greatest the tracking them once they get here is the most important aspect. Most illegals come on tourist visas and merely overstay their visa never to be seen or heard from again. It seems, at least to me, that most get to the States that way instead of crossing the Rio Grande in the middle of the night,etc. There needs go be a better way of getting back in touch with the ones that overstay legit tourist visas.

The ones that are here could be here vetted by charities like the family of kids with cerebral palsy and all that. They would be leaving a paper trail that way.

But, Trump said that Syria is banned for good. Any Syrian refugees playing sports here could be effected in the future.

Also, you can get a waiver. Maybe, instead of people crying about faux anecdotal examples, they should actually work within the system and see if it actually affects them. Plus, it's temporary. Good grief!!

RE: Will Trump's executive order effect sports world?
I just read an article where a local university is concerned because it estimates that 65 students from the 7 countries now banned were set to start an undergraduate program in the fall. Now these students will not be allowed into the country and are likely already making other arrangements.

I wonder, if the same thing is happening in colleges around the country, how much of an impact will it have?

Fall == August
Today == January/February
Difference ==7 months
Temporary Ban Duration == 3 months

MATH is FUNDAMENTAL.

So what you are saying is that these people should come now and be detained for three months so that they can attend college in the fall?

Or they could just wait and come in the Fall like every other student. Geez, this is not rocket science.

They have to be revetted again which could take 2 years under Trump's plans.

Although even the headline at CNN is incorrect. The executive is not a 7-nation ban...just a temporary ban.

Exactly.

Which means they will more than likely just go to college elsewhere.

Shameful. Just think of all the students who were going to have the opportunity to be educated in the United States and learn what America is really like.

Now they will likely be recruited by Islamic terrorists.

Now here is the RUB, as they say. If the vetting under Obama was so great, then it shouldn't take 2 more years, right? We would have all of the information necessary for vetting and people already in the system would breeze through. Unless, of course, the vetting system currently in place is crap. Then, people are in for a longer wait.
