Why do we obsess over Josh Pastner???
He's gone. He wasn't a good fit here and that is okay. I hope that he does well at GT. Sometimes coaches have to find their fit. If he wins the NC at GT are we going to go crazy? The Pastner lovers will say we never should have gotten rid of him, while those who didn't like him will still find something wrong with him. Why can't we accept that it just wasn't a good marriage? It happens. Coach K's time at Army (his first HC gig, was not that successful. Yes i know it is Army and therefore different that taking over Memphis and I am NOT calling Pastner a HOF coach). I am just pointing out that sometimes coaches fail at one place and succeed at another. Coach Belichick failed at Cleveland and look at him now, he is considered one of the best, if not the best coach in the NFL. Sometimes a fit between place and coach just isn't good. It happens. If Pastner succeeds at GT we should be glad that he found his fit, if not hopefully he finds his fit...even if it is as an assistant somewhere.

We need to move on and worry about our Tigers and Coach Smith not what Pastner is doing at GT. It's like obsessing over your ex-girlfriend even though you fought all the time and had nothing in common. Move on. You have another girlfriend now who is much better looking and has more things in common with you. Enjoy what you have.

I think this board obsesses too much over both Calipari and Pastner. And ex players too.

Pastner was coach last season - not ten years ago.

He's the ex-coach. People interested in the Tigers are going to talk about him. Not much use in worrying about it.

Memphis = Cleveland, I can see that. Cleveland did beat out Memphis for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, given Cleveland's music history I GUESS it makes sense. 01-wingedeagle

Memphis is the Apple Dumpling Gang.

As long as Pastner has an X and O guy he will let coach for him, he will do well, he may even be able to coach for himself one day.

Was not comparing Memphis to Cleveland, just using it as an example of a coach being a bad fit at his first place and succeeding at his second place.

I understand that, and know that he is going to be talked about some, but it seems like every time he does something (good or bad) both sides come out of the wood work and start talking about him obsessively. Almost as if they either want him to fail so they can prove they were right or the other side wanting him to succeed so they can say "I told you so."

Because he was polarizing. Some posters loved him and buried their heads in the sand for 7 years. Some knew he was going to be a flop after year 2. Both sides dug their heels in.

Honestly, the Josh stuff absolutely pales in comparison to Cal. And rightfully so. Outside of the major upsets, there really hasn't been too much attention to Josh.

What else are we going to talk about here? We don't have a game everyday, and they won't let us post nekkid women pictures. We have to talk about something. Otherwise, I'll be forced to go into the living where the wife, dogs, and cats are.

Not worried about it, just curious as to why the obsession?

I'm not sure talking about an ex coach not even a year removed qualifies as obsession?

Maybe if it was every other thread or post or whatever, you might be getting near a point.

What I have noticed though is that most of the Josh lovers consider any and all posts to be obsessing.

Not sure which camp you are in though, but no worries. You just may be overthinking things right now.

People still post about Calipari and that was nearly a decade ago.

RE: Why do we obsess over Josh Pastner???
It's kind of like talking about a movie after you've seen it. There's sort of a U-shaped curve that depicts how much talk it gets -- bad movies on the left, average in the middle, good ones on the right.

If the movie's great, it generates a lot of talk. That's the right side of the U. If a movie is average, people don't talk about it. That's the middle of the U. You get the drift? Josh was on the left side of the U chart to most Tiger basketball fans. Not all, but most. And they voted with their feet, if you're in need of metrics.

Maybe you are being sarcastic, considering that you keep posting the same comment. If you are being sarcastic, it's a funny post and I hope you keep posting it. But, if you aren't trying to be funny, well, you are dead wrong.
