RE: 2017 Football Schedule
Clearly the CAA has given the schools their conference schedule. Sadly W&M seems to usually later than the other schools in releasing it on the website so those of us who care alot needlessly play detective in looking at other teams announcements to find our opponent. Presume in the next week it will magically appear and with a new AD this summer a better urgency in communication.

RE: 2017 Football Schedule
Have we ever played Albany since they joined the conference? How do we miss URI and UAlbany every year?

Personally, I don't really want to play Albany. I'd rather play the same schools each season than to rotate around the odd schools of the conference.

Rhode Island released their schedule and we aren't playing them this year once again.

When's the last time we played URI- 2010? I must be forgetting a game against them.

We lost to them in Kingston in 2011 but beat them in 2013.

RE: 2017 Football Schedule
I may be in the minority on this, but I have to give props to CAA football regarding the conference scheduling.

I applaud the fact that the CAA has worked out a formula whereby everyone seems to play the schools they want to play on an annual basis while keeping travel costs down. It doesn't seem to be a random thing which would be making sure everybody plays everybody within a certain number of years. If that system was adopted, we would see less of Nova and Delaware.

Every school's deal is different, but it seems to work, and no one complains.

The Tribe's deal seems to be guaranteed annual games with Richmond, JMU, and Elon, and almost guaranteed games with Towson and Delaware. The next tier is Villanova, but we don't see them as often as Delaware.

You will notice that the above schools are the geographical south of the conference.

After that, I don't think we care, and we just go with the flow to allow a conference-wide schedule to work. That has resulted in the numerous games with UNH.

Personally, I like playing UNH a lot, and I enjoy the Maine games.

Looking forward to building rivalries with the SUNY schools.

As for URI, no disrespect intended, the only time I care is when we lose to them which drives me crazy. I get that they are in the conference for the northern schools, and that's fine ... URI does not move the needle for me, and I'm glad we play UNH on an almost annual basis than ... let's say .... URI.

I understand on how some of you like the current rotation we have, but don't you think you'd like to see someone else different,( I.E Albany, or URI)

RE: 2017 Football Schedule
I don't really care. We payed Maine this year, and I think it was our lowest attended CAA game. I get more excited for Delaware/Nova/Towson than URI/Albany/Maine

RE: 2017 Football Schedule
The only team that moves the needle for us is UNH. Albany seems to be developing into our "secondary" rival. After that probably Delaware due to historical ties, Villnova due to name recognition and then any nationally ranked Top 10 teams at the time we play them. Otherwise our fans could care less who we are playing.....winning is ALWAYS more important than who we are playing.

2017 Football Schedule
Hope the school will take steps to assure all HC tickets are going to alum, and that JMU only get their standard visitor allotment. Need to do something separate with HC mailings to push buying tickets before they go on sale to the general public. If handled well, it would/could easily be sold out to season ticket holders and HC participants and no general public tickets made available. Let's keep the purple under control.

This x 1000. It's so simple to do but I've seen so many schools screw it up

Oct 28 at Maine
Nov 4 New Hampshire
Nov 11 Towson?
Nov 18 at Richmond

So, we pretty much know the schedule now. Only 2 road games left. If we look at the other teams released schedules, I'd bet we could figure it out. Or, tribeathletics.com could just post the schedule right now. I am hoping our bye is 10/14.

As for Homecoming tickets, did we even sell out this year? No question we need as much of a homefield advantage for that game as we can get.

Elon, Delaware, and a bye.

RE: 2017 Football Schedule
Elon plays Richmond 9/23 and Delaware plays JMU 10/14. So, if those two are our opponents, we pretty much know when at this point.

Worst case scenario:
Bye 9/23
at Delaware 10/7
at Elon 10/14

This would be a bye before any conference games, plus 2 road games before the big home game against JMU.

Best option:
at Delaware 9/23
at Elon 10/7
Bye 10/14

That option gives us only the first two games on the road, and then no more back to back road trips with a bye before JMU.

RE: 2017 Football Schedule
Is there a reason Villanova has fallen off our schedule? I feel like people would show up to that game just based on the name/alumni

RE: 2017 Football Schedule
I'd take Villanova and drop New Hampshire for a year or two. At least New Hampshire has to play JMU this year as well. But getting to play Elon, Rhode Island and Albany is a major advantage. As long as you beat the weaker teams......
