RE: 2016-17 Basketball Stats
The offense being horrible comes down to being the worst 3pt shooting team in the MAC!

The 3pt shooting is dragging down the fg%

7, this is how bad the 3pt shooting has been. 3pt shooting is included in overall fg%. Huskies have taken 185 and made 87 two point shots(.471%)outstanding! Huskies have taken 67 three point shots and made 15(.224%)unbelievable!

Current MAC Stats:
Amazes me how bad the offense is with how much talent there is.
And the fact NIU has won that many games with that bad of an offense is interesting. Makes me wonder what NIUs potential would be with just a slightly above average offense

They can win a MACC if Wilson, Bradley and Pauga make a few 3's which they all showed they were capable last year. Everything else they do is good enough to win a championship!

If they can get the ball movement and open looks they had yesterday, more threes are sure to come

It was garbage time but John Siu had a nice stroke. If Pauga doesn't pick it up why not give him a try.

That's what I was thinking too. Pauga isn't even close on some shots...

I really think with Pauga its nerves and being tense. If he got more mins and more attempts he would shoot at 35 to 40 percent clip

Yeah, but he's nothing except a guy to sit out at the perimeter and wait for a shot, if you can make a decent amount of those shots, not sure how you can give him more minutes, except in garbage time.

Not sure what is outstanding or your point about 47% in 2 point attempts. NIU would move up one place to 10 out of 12 for 2 point attempts instead of 11 out of 12 in overall attempts. NIU is not a great shooting team. All of our guards probably are streak shooters instead of pure shooters.
If you look at the stats I feel the reason NIU is not shooting as well this year is the point guards are not distributing the ball and creating open shots thru penetration as well as Baker did last year. NIU is dead last by a huge margin in assists. I also think they are not getting as many easy points or fast break points this year either without Baker.
I still believe that NIU can win without having to make a whole bunch of 3s. I do not believe that was the case earlier and that has been proven right during the first four games of conference. The top four teams in the MAC right at the moment average around the middle of the conference in 3 point shooting. Many aspects of basketball my young man.
NIU is the deepest team in the MAC at full strength. I think Porter is probably back in the starting five and if we can get solid play from Bradley and Wilson(I think he has been playing better defense of late) with continued maturation from German and Thomas the Huskies have a shot this year. Pauga will help win a ball game or two this year (although I like to see him come off the bench after Wilson) and McCarty will be needed at some point as well.

Huskie87fan, you make some good points but NIU can not and will not win a MACC without making more 3's. Assists and 3's are about the only things they can do better. They are going to shoot two pt shots, rebound, turnover and shoot free throws and defend about right where they are the rest of the season

This is what it is all about, which is why I think despite NIU doing good against bad competition as of late, is why we should have hope. Porter and Wilson were actually distributing the ball, and the results showed with more open looks than normal. Levi Bradley could have had a snack and showered before releasing his 3 point attempt on that Porter kick back. If NIU can get the guards to move the ball around instead of forcing shots like they did for most of this year, this team can be a factor.
