No one is really expecting to get to the NCAA's this year. We are talking about generating new excitement about the team, since we now have a real coach. A bonus would be getting into the NIT, which I believe we failed to do the last two years. Rebuilding a team and the fan base takes time, even when we had Calipari.

Tubby will be 200% better at getting on-court wins than the other guy was. Buy some tickets and come on down to the Forum. You will like the product on the floor.

I think Pastners downfall was the bait and switch teams he would put on the floor...

All pre-season long we would be excited about the recruits and potential only to be let down with performance. If Pastner would have had the same results with 3 star recruits he would still be here and most would likely be Ok with him as long as he began to bring in better players.

Tubby came in with a team with 0 expectations so if he does anything with them it will be appreciated.

Players never got better

And yes I include DJ - he just got more playing time

Just look at Pookie and Kuran and what they are doing now

Or look at what Martin and Markel are doing now

Someone asked me if I thought coaching really mattered. Fuente--Norvell--Tubby, so yes coaching really does matter. Pastner was thrown into the fire way before he was ready, after 7 years he's proven time and time again, he still isn't ready. And yes, going to Tiger BB games is indeed fun again.

DJ's minutes per game over his career at Memphis: 7.9, 11.2, 8.3, 23.6. It's also no coincidence that his best season statistically was when he wasn't even practicing with the team.

You can throw Eliot Williams name in the ring, too. He started turning it on at the end of the year at Duke when he began getting real minutes. That carried over into his SO season here where he was the go-to guy. Our Canadian friend used to argue with me incessantly about how Josh was the reason he quintupled his scoring output.

Can you imagine how we would be doing if he had recruited when he first came. If we were just a little bit deeper on the bench. I just don't understand that part of it? [/b]

I'm guessing he wanted a challenge, didn't want to make it too easy.

Dude isn't a shitter / salesman, he wouldn't make a good insurance salesman, Pastner would make a fortune in insurance.

Now watch them go wild as if not acting like we were terrible all the time means I do not recognize that even when team was making tourneys as a lock they were still short, especially against elite competition.

Screams insecurities.

Now...beat Tulsa. Because MEMPHIS is playing, and that is what matters.

That's not true. And you guys love to pick and choose certain info to try to validate your point.

Pastner was not ready to coach Top 15 program-and the worst contract in the history of CBB has killed our revenue stream for years but don't post bogus info to try and validate what we all know; Pastner was not ready, he refused to follow advice and he was enabled by AD. We are glad he is gone. WE ALL SHOULD KNOW THAT.

For example Will Barton improved tremously from year 1 to 2:

http://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/play...ton-1.html

Others did too. DJ was a prime example. Both speak highly of Pastner.

So at least try to be truthful to yourselves.

This year's team is almost exactly where last year's team was at this time and this years has played a much easier schedule. Lose at Tulsa and this team has a worse record than last years team.

People will see what they want to see. Regardless of the actual facts.

Just to be clear...the contract was not the worst in the history. It is comparable to Archie's and Marshall's, for starters. The problem is it was given to the wrong person. Unproven. It was a terrible decision - but not necessarily a terrible contract.

Almost the same overall record. This year is 12-4, last year was 11-5. Lose at Tulsa and it's not worse - it's identical. And, yes, last year did have a tougher schedule at this point. Problem was, last year we were 0-3 against top 25 at this point. This year, we're 1-0.

Oh horse hockey. You can split hairs with the best. It was a terrible contract because it was GIVEN TO THE WRONG COACH, OBVIOUSLY. You can't speculate whether it wasn't a terrible contract because Pastner was our coach.

If it were given to Coach K, it would be a great contract but it wasn't because he wasn't our coach. It was given to a coach who had thumbed his nose to all advice to get a tough XO coach.

Bowen panicked because USC asked to speak to Pastner. Have that from two independent, impeccable sources.
