We don't get paid until tomorrow. Should a lot better on Saturday for the de-facto AAC regular season title.

Plus, attendance wasn't that bad. Unless you're telling me that ~half the seats weren't actually filled and the attendance stats are a house of lies!

I live 40 minutes away from the campus and thats with absolutely no traffic. Combine that with the fact i have never really followed college basketball and it makes it really hard to convince me to go to a game.

That's sad. There's some years that your team could really use the help.

RE: Tulsa at Houston attendance
I'm a UH basketball season ticket holder for over 25 years and I attend ~90 percent of the games.

I live 20 miles away from campus. Drives in for mid-week games, at the end of rush hour, can take 40 minutes. I don't begrudge people who won't drive in from the outer suburbs for these games. But they ought to at least be going to the weekend games.

And besides, there's plenty of UH alums who don't live that far away and could easily make the games. They just don't care enough to make the effort.

And a lot of students on campus don't bother to walk over for the games either.

And then they wonder why we are G5.

While yall worried about attendance UH is 3-0 in AAC play and 12-3 overall. GO COOGS

If attendance doesn't pick up when we open the new arena then all hope is lost for the long term outlook of the program. I truly believe the updated venue plus a beefier non conf schedule will get UH fans reenergized for cougar basketball. Oh yeah, and winning. Losing is a non starter for UH fans.

we are actually getting better in attendance. playing a 7-6 tulsa on break a few years ago would have been a cloud of dust for attendance, it was a remotely decent crowd, over a 1k+ actual people...its a slow process but its actually improving

It looked like about 300 people in the stands on TV. There should be no excuses when they play Cincy.

So did Houston really beat Tulsa if no one was there to see it?

these are the game highlights..we play in a 9k arena. if you think this is what 300 people look like in a 10k arena you need to not be guessing attendance numbers becuase you clearly cant..you can even hear a loud crowd

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsNDdqH51-Y

it isnt crazy number but some of you exaggerating to the max

Of course I was exaggerating the 300 number. My point was that the attendance was crap and there is a bigger issue if it doesn't improve with a ranked team coming to town.

ECU seems to have 3-4,000 fans for Leboball. Can only imagine when they hire a real coach.

See y,all have it all wrong, 36 miles in 2 hours, why?, what did ya do , run out of gas or get lost
I've lived in Houston most all my life and I can think of only 2 freeways after work that can be that bad with out a wreck or road work, 45 south to nasa is brutal and then on to Galveston
I-10 west gets bad too, but doesn't take 2 hours to go 36 miles
If you work near or in downtown just drink while you wait and drive for 8 to 10 easy mins and presto! Your at the game drinking again...
And who ever said the Rockets don't draw good for a weekday game?, rockets have no worries there
If you want more fans in the seats just get drunk and you will see double the fans

I-45 at 59 had both a multi-car accident AND a stalled car about half a mile prior. At 7:00 at night, not after work. Couldn't even move to let ambulance through with no shoulders. Last weeknight game at UH had been just fine even with an earlier tip, so it's not just a bad route.

Just staying in downtown doesn't work for families and your blue hairs. Key segments of most college sports fanbases.

I don't even live 10 miles away and it took us an hour to get there at that time of night. I didn't miss many Tulsa hoops games over the last few seasons living in Tulsa, but if this was my reality all the time I'm sure I would. Seems especially brutal for people with kids out in the suburbs to do bball here. My honest inclination now instead of criticizing Houston fans on attendance is to criticize Tulsa fans who are completely spoiled and lazy in comparison.

I haven't been to a Rockets game this year but attendance was pretty poor there for a weekday matchup with the Thunder last season too.

Oh, it's awful and what's worse is that the general tip time is 7 p.m. historically. The Rockets were at least smart and scheduled 7:30 P.M. games (with 7:40 tips) over the years, which helped tremendously with attendance. If UH was in a suburb like some of these urban schools, attendance would have been much better. That said, students could have helped a lot over the years.

610 W & 59 can be a nightmare. I used to be lucky to get from Bellaire to I-10 in 45 minutes.
