No.

If they want to seperate then seperate completely.

If not, then they should fight the injustice rather than institutionalize it.

The AAC commish is correct....if the Sunbelt, C-USA and MAC want that...it on them...can't imagine the AAC or MWC going for this.

It has to be concerning to NIU fans that Frazier sees the Group of 5 as its own division.

The more comments I see from MAC school officials and fans, the more I wonder if we might see a good portion of the MAC move to FCS. A lot of those schools seem more interested in competing for a championship over playing in the top division.

"There is absolutely no ability for us (teams in the Group of 5) to be in that national title conversation," Frazier said.

How about a G5 school schedules 4 tough P5 OOC games each season (and win) then run the conference undefeated before making that comment. Houston, before the wheels fell off, were at least in the conversation (and they only had 2 tough OOC games).

I think we would be doing the P5 a huge favor by instituting a G 5 playoff. That is what THEY want - complete separation.

If they want to split off - make them do the dirty work - and face the consequences (legal/PR/Etc.).

Instead of initiating the G5 playoff, their should be threats of litigation for inclusion to try and keep the P5 honest (if that is possible).

SMDH. That move would be suicide for those programs. Once your gone that's it your not getting back in.

He's right but that has pretty much always been the case. Undefeated Houston would not have gotten in this year either.

NIU's AD graduated from Alabama so of course he would make such comments.

The MAC, sunbelt, cusa, and mwc can do whatever they feel is in their best interest, but I can 200% garuantee anyone that the AAC wouldn't have anything to do with that foolishness lol. However I can invision our commish helping them in anyway possible in basically separating themselves into a lower division of the fbs irrelevance.07-coffee3

If the G5 is given a high TV/media deal from one (or multiple) of ESPN, NBC, FOX, CBS, etc. for a G5 playoff, then why wouldn't they do it?

Any opportunity to get more revenue and exposure to increase value of programs should be considered. It would help those programs in the long run. Fighting the P5 on access and bowl slots is a losing proposition and a no-win scenario.

I doubt the P5 would bite on this, but I think it'd be more fun if there was a second four-team bracket (ala the NIT), with two more semifinal bowls and a second plus-one game, with invites sent only to the highest ranked champions that didn't qualify for the CFP. This year's bracket would be Penn State, Oklahoma, Western Michigan, and Temple.

Maybe they will just offer us revenue to blow up our stadiums...hey its REVENUE so we should do it.

Well let's turn that around. If the p5 split from the NCAA tournament and started their own which one would you want the NBE to be associated with?07-coffee3

RE: Some G5 officials want separate playoff
It is an interesting question how far this idea, of playing other tournaments, can be pushed. It does not have to be just a G5 playoff but whats to stop other bowls from setting up their own mini-tourneys?

If the winners of the CFP semi-finals are allowed to play another game, then why can't, for example, the winners of the Citrus and Outback bowls play each other in a central Florida bowl tournament championship game?

I know, common sense says the winning teams and fans will just want to go home after new years, but how could anybody say it should be against the rules?

Exactly. There is no pot of gold at the end of this rainbow. The general public would see this as nothing more than a process designed to crown the 67th best team in college football. It's a horrible idea.

If those teams want a playoff, drop back to FCS. Make easy on the rest of us. Dissolve the teams from the MAC, CUSA, or Sunbelt that want that and slim the FBS down.
